He's 26 not by any standards is he a kid, whether he plays Friday or not depends on him and him alone, on his attitude he shows in training, part of me is inclined to say leave him out until after the window is shut but that could be cutting our nose off to spite our face

I don't get the animosity towards Mahrez?

Granted he has been naive but it is almost certain he has also been advised poorly by his agent.

Obviously his 'come and get me' wasn't smart but he hasn't said he hates it at Leicester just that he wants to further his career (I don't blame him).

His only two 'crimes' are (IMO):

1) His work rate was poor virtually all last season (as per most of the other players)

and:

2) He says he wants a bigger club. He is young, his agent should have steered him through this much better than he has.

I think this is because most agents are greedy bastards and looking for one massive pay out.

Mahrez has been silly but he is 10x most other players I have seen in his position and on his day he is simply wonderful and unplayable.

We need to remember sometimes that he is still practically a kid.

You don't get the animosity towards Mahrez, yet you then go on to say that he is naive, he is not smart, he has a poor work rate and that he is silly.

I think you've answered your own question there.

No need for animosity though, is there?

He's acting like a cock to lower his price. People are entitled to take that badly. He's in no way a kid. I don't buy that he's naive either, he knows exactly what he's doing and we should stop helping him by including him in the squad.

I believe that he knew exactly what he was doing last season. It appears that it was simply to lower his price - as you say. Since then his attitude has been stuff Leicester - irrespective of the fee you want I just want out of here to a club that matches better with my self-image.

I think I understand the risks involved around a case that Leicester are not respecting his contract but surely Leicester have a right not to play someone who is clearly not focussed on playing for the club.

You think he deliberately had a poor season to reduce his price?
Really?

I'm pretty sure the way to get a move to a top club is to play well. And if he'd played last season like he did the year before he'd now be at one of the top clubs in Europe. I'm sure he knows that too.

I think people are being incredibly harsh on Mahrez. This criticism of last seasons performances in particular. For half of the season the whole team were playing atrociously and we were doomed to relegation. For the majority of the season he also had extra attention (2/3 men) as soon as he gained possession of the ball.

I believe (and it is only my opinion), if Mahrez doesn't get his move, he will play to his maximum and help the team achieve to their maximum. If the lack of bids go on for long enough, we may end up keeping Riyad and he may settle for little old Leicester for for the time being.

I think we are in a win win situation. If he doesn't go we get to keep a world class player and if he does go we will be better off to the tune of 50 million - which we will hopefully invest wisely!

I agree. If Mahrez wants big money to come in for him, he has to play a blinder against Arsenal, Brighton and Manure.

If nobody comes in with the £50million we end up with a great start to the season, and a great player till at least January.

More importantly, if he goes, let it be to the other side of the Channel. We do not want him making another English team better, like Kante did.

Well, the disparity between his form in the PL as compared to the CL suggests he can turn it on or off. Only Mahrez will know the truth but it didn't feel that he was highly motivated in the PL.

As to Micky's point about us getting 50 million. Can't imagine that happening. The market has been quite well tested already and people don't think he's worth that. 40 million euros at best I think and I guess the club would now accept about £35m.

Total bollocks. We have a player on a long contract and on a big wage. We have a player that can turn a game on its head. He is a genius with the football. Sigurdsson will go for 50 and our owners will entertain nothing less. Fact.

Oh come on, not this rubbish again.
So he caused havoc for an entire season and opposing teams decided to counter his excellence by treating him exactly the same. No chance.

I'm just going to assume you didn't watch any games last season. This whole 2-3 players on him as soon as he receives the ball is a myth.

There were 2-3 players on him at times last season but a lot of that had to do with Mahrez himself. He was a lot slower moving forward once he had the ball last year, he didn't attack the defence as quickly as the year before and sometimes once he got the ball he didn't seem to know what he wanted to do. All that allowed the opposition to snuff him out.

All true but this was the case with the entire side, it wasn't limited to Mahrez as some claim. Even if he'd been on top form and at his best, he often had nowhere to go and nobody to pass/cross to.

It'll be interesting how we'll all perceive him in 10 years from now. Will he be our George Best? Right now my thoughts are as follows:

1. He's acting like a tosser
2. We're ****ed without his creativity this year

He's our player, until someone offers enough money for us to feel comfortable with selling him, which isn't currently happening. That means:

For Mahrez - he's going to have to suck it up and give it everything he can, so that another team thinks it's worth offering more money for him.

For us fans - we're going to have to suck it up and push him to give it everything he can, so that another team thinks it's worth worth offering more money for him.

We all want the same thing, I reckon - him to play well for us.

Its not "fact" - its your opinion.

Don't think that many people would argue against Mahrez being our most talented player by a distance - but this situation is now festering and needs to be sorted. No player is more important than the club.

Don't think we will get close to £50million but that's not a fact - it's my opinion.

If he goes for less it will be because his contract has run down considerably or he has gone on protest and become a disruptive influence in and around the squad. I don't think the latter will happen as he is not that kind of guy and he will get on with it until told differently.
