Cheers - when do Advance tickets usually go on sale?

About 8-10 weeks before the date of travel. At the moment Virgin Advance ticket are available up to 14th December.

The cheapest Manchester to London Advance ticket is £8 single; I would expect you to be able to get tickets at that price, or at £11 or £15 if you booked them promptly when they become available. The tube fare from Euston to Heathrow is £4. Total for two return would therefore be somewhere between £48 and £76.

Cheers Boc, I'll hold fire until the advance tickets are released and then make a decision.

:icon_roll Not one of you has come up with the obvious suggestion yet.

Get the Transpeak bus from Manchester to Derby, coach from Derby to Leicester, bus from Leicester to Northampton, bus to MK, bus to Oxford, late night bus to London (timetable here), then get the tube early in the morning. Return the same way. Simple.
