He’s at least halfway thinking about how shagged out Vards must be at this point.

Amazing how ****ing dreadful that Edouard signing was. Would have been miles better off keeping Nacho man.

I do find myself contemplating the inevitable 'Vardy out for two months with groin issue' notification.

Yep I'm really pleased that Daka is back as playing Vardy for 90+ mins each week is just madness.

I do also think there is still potential for a decent player in there, he just needs to get some confidence and a decent run.

Thanks Jeff, I kind of already knew that. I was just hoping that some of those people who seem to take delight in ripping into Daka, might also check. The actual facts (without ifs, buts and conjecture) are without Daka we would have been in a play-off that, could have seen us playing in the Championship this season.
This makes no sense at all. Zero. Zilch.

How long do we wait?

Go back through this forum and I'm almost positive you will find exactly the same comments about Slimani, Gray, Silva, Musa, Praet, Nacho, Akgun and, currently, Soumare, Edouard, El Khannouss....

Some players simply aren't good enough or can't do it in a particular league with a particular club. We've seen more than enough from Daka to be confident that he's not the answer and never will be. He can barely control a football or his own legs at his worst and at his best, he looks like a poor version of Nacho who, if we're honest, was also a dud.

It was blindingly obvious to everyone apart from the club's management and scouting team that we absolutely needed a striker, especially when they knew we were shipping Cannon out. What did they do?..... Brought in Edouard at the last second; a man who had failed spectacularly at Palace and looked every inch a terrible player.

Just for reference, Ipswich paid the same money for Delap as we did for El Khannouss. I know who we needed more and I certainly know who I would have preferred.

I certainly prefer Delap.

His name is far easier to say and type.

Football would be really dull if all players turned out to be exactly what was expected.

Part of the fun is taking someone from one environment where they do well and seeing if they do as well, or better, in another one.

Every single player you name here has done very well somewhere. In some sort of set up that suited them. The problem we've had as a club for many years now is that we're not careful enough with the characters we sign or diligent enough with the integration of them.

This is what made Steve Walsh an exceptional head of recruitment. Ever since he left, we've played pot luck with young men coming here.

Daka comes across as the sort of chap that will look great when he's happy and confident. His talent lies in his instinctive, first time, shooting ability. If you look at the goals he's scored in his career, this is what stands out. From the moment he joined us, Rodgers made it very clear that he wasn't going to nurture and inspire his new striker. The revolving door of managers since have shown no interest in doing so either.

He'll move on from us and may, or may not, find a manager or an environment where we'll see that he is a talented striker. But I think it's probably too late for him here now. We'll just buy another one and play pot luck again.

I agree with all of this.

Watching Daka has certainly been funny.

Some players work at some clubs but not others. Take Chris Wood as an example. The problem comes when you hold onto them for ages hoping that they get better; it's rare that happens. We should have tried to cut our losses on the likes of him, Nacho, Praet etc... when it was obvious they just weren't going to perform for us.

Players are people. Sounds people adapt in new environments some don't.

We have no idea what support has been given to Daka by the club. He could have been having intense individual coaching for all we know.
