or that they are wanting him to finger Mckay.....read that how you like

If they need him to do that we really are f*cked. He was the chairman at the time and he would have overseen the dodgy transfer in question.

F*cked I tell thee.

It's like a good old fashioned farce, with a bit of slapstick thrown in.

If anything does happen to MM and his money, it's a good job we didn't completely piss off all our previous investors during the takeov..... oh, shit!!! :icon_eek:

Perhaps not all, but I bet some wouldn't put their money in again given how the local media treated them

I have been waiting for news on this event all day. Saw a report on the news before I went to work at midday. Heard a report on PM on radio 4 at 1725 about it, confirming Harry redknapps arrest. Got a squeeky bum and check my phone an hour later and read about Mandaric being arrested too.
Heard on R5 on the way home that he had been arrested and confirmed it when I got home on the net. Its just like a soap opera isn't it?

I hope nothing bad has happend, and I have every confidence that Milan Mandaric is a decent chap, and is innocent. I hope so. Ohh lordy, whats going on at our club?

I bloody knew it. I said earlier. I just bloody knew it!

One thing is for sure they are going to go through City's accounts with a fine toothed comb. Let's face it some of the players bought in have been questionable, hope to hell there is nothing fishy there.

LCFC = more ups and downs than my ex wifes knickers

SSN have reported that Rednapp and the pompey cheif executive have been released. Rednapp apparently stated that he believed that in terms of his involvement and the pompey cheif exec's involvement today would be 'the end of it'.

They were apparently not under suspicion themselves but, 'assisting the police in relation to 'others' who were suspected.

No mention of Milan being similarly not involved or not a suspect.

No statement from Milan

No statement from the club

In fact nothing. The silence is actually in my view a very bad sign. If there was no fire milan would have come out and told us not to worry about the smoke.

There may be trouble ahead....

MM, Storrie and Dirty 'Arry have all been released on bail, I believe. MM and Storrie will stand or fall together - if they're in the frame - as they've both put their names to almost all of the finances going through Portsmouth at the time. If it's just about nailing an agent or two then maybe they are all just peripheral. But it seems unlikely that they'd be arrested in that case.

They needed to be arrested to be taken in for questioning, apparently

The Guardian:

Redknapp confirmed that he had been arrested and said: "They have to arrest you to talk to you, for you to be in the police station. I think that's the end of it, it didn't directly concern me."
Redknapp confirmed that as well as himself, Milan Mandaric and Peter Storrie were also arrested.

This though is more worrying. Money laundering and tax offences are a damn sight more serious than a fecking bung to a corrupt agent.

City of London detectives have told the Crown Prosecution Service that their inquiry has superseded a separate investigation into “bungs” carried out by Lord Stevens of Kirkwhelpington. “These arrests should not be seen as an examination of an alleged bungs culture,” a source close to the investigation said. “The police have been looking at a range of possible financial crimes, including money-laundering and tax offences.”

It could get very messy.

From BBC site

"The five men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and false accounting.

Mr Redknapp and three others have since been released on police bail. Meanwhile, police said a 30-year-old remains in custody."

.. hence EMC's train experience

"The men were held as officers carried out raids on 12 locations across the country. Two of those searches are still ongoing. "

...anyone in MM's office at the Walkers?

Slightly amusing:
Apparently when the police raided Redknapp's home at 6am this morning, he wasn't in! Good research lads!

Don't you have to be arrested on suspicion of something?

That would be a fib. You can always go down the station to 'help with enquiries'. You can't (legally, anyway) be arrested without plod suspecting you of having committed an offence. And since there's been a number of searches, this means search warrants have been issued too.

They wouldn't go to someones house at 6 in the morning just to ask them to help with their enquiries, so you are right, they must have been charged with something. Plod wouldn't do that unless they'd got reasonable evidence.
I don't know the legalities of it all, but it doesn't sound good does it.

Sad law point to make here as i have studied it.
There is no such thing as "helping police with enquiries" - it is a misnomer, just a colloquial phrase really.
You have either been arrested or you haven't!
Anyway, enjoyed the reserves match...
Kaebi was rubbish!
