And the only time i've seen us win at F****t.

Not surprising! I think it's the early 70s that we last beat F!"£$t there!

JOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii- aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaN

'cos they get a crowd of nearly 70,000 every week

But if the ticket price is related to the quality of football, as you seem to be suggesting, why don't they charge more than Pompey?
Because they know their fans won't accept being ripped off.

Being in the Premiership is a novelty for Portsmouth fans, once it's worn off they won't continue to pay that much.

And of course if Mandaric had built the stadium he promised them they'd be able to get bigger crowds.

If the cheapest ticket at Leicester was £35 I wouldn't go, and I'm sure there are a lot more people who would feel the same way. I wouldn't be happy to pay that much for the money to go to a bunch of overpaid prima donnas, and into the pockets of an owner who looks like he's doing it just for the money.

But even with those prices Portsmouth have sold out their first four league games, which seems to suggest that there will be somebody ready to pay to take your place.

Not after a few years of mid-table premiership finishes - as we discovered at Filbert Street.

Yeah - but you'll be back by then - you know you will.

Simply though the fact of the matter is Portsmouth Football Club are in a position that they would not be in without MM's cash. He didn't leave them in the mire and they are a strong Premiership outfit with a good squad which should see them ok. That is a position a long long way away for City at present. The fact is he hasn't left this club high & dry and spent a lot of time and money in getting them this stable. If his intention is to get Leicester City Football Club to a standard wherein he makes a solid profit from the sale then fantastic.

We can over speculate the negative here also I think.

He got lucky in that some shady businessman with a lot of cash came in and bought the club from them. Without Gaydamac's money last season they could easily have been relegated.
If Gaydamac hadn't come in, (and by that time MM had already made up his mind to go), and they had been relegated he'd have had difficulty finding a buyer, and anyone coming in would have faced the same problems we had after being relegated in 2002.
You might say you make your own luck, and MM seems to be good at that, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'd do the same at Leicester.

However Jeff he was spending money throughout the period on players which weren't gelling. There was at no point a clear signal that he would leave the club high and dry which is almost what you're getting at. I agree we need to look at all facts, but as they stand the facts still go against MM being merely a bloodthirsty businessman in entirety.

Jeff is absolutely right, take a feckin reality check.
He isn't definitely coming waving his blankety-blank cheque book & pen and even if he does it doesn't guaruntee feck all.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not pissing on your chips, but at the same time I'm not going to start creaming my boxer shorts over a bit of a bit of press play & speculation.
I agree, it would be great if there was a cash injection into the club but to be honest I'll save the celebration until we're languishing in the lower reaches of the premiership

actually I'll be ecstatic if we ever even made promotion obviously, but you take my point surely?

I'm just trying to provide some balance for the people who think he's the second coming of MON.
I doubt many people really think that.

But the point is, even the speculation of him or anyone injecting some cash, and more importantly some genuine direction and enthusiasm into the club is, IMO, the most interesting piece of "potential" news we've had in several years.

Its just a reflection of how desperate we've become and how badly we need something or somebody to shake this club out of its increasingly catatonic slumber.

loooh froma ll the millain links this sounds possible and good and thus possibly good. come on MM buy us, rape us but give us money and hope please!

I completely agree and do not subscribe to the theory that he will be the new MON at City - I was just trying to also point out that the doom & gloom surrounding his business models and ideas were perhaps a little negative?

Right now I'll take my chances, as that's all they are, with the people currently running the club that we don't all get sold down the river.

Apart from going bankrupt can the situation be any more depressing than it currently is:102: . The club as adopted the policy of bringing through young players because of the fianances. Under MA we were all a bit wazzed off with the recruitmant of older players. The problem for me is that there are no guarantees that any of these younger players will ever really make the grade. We have had many young players over the years with the odd little gem standing out ( Heskey, Joachim). But for those couple there have been far more that have gone in the other direction and disappeared back into the lower leagues. Imo the club is better off going down the youth route but with too many of them in the team then i can't see us improving sufficiently to challenge. Whatever peoples opinions are about MM, we do need his money. Even 3-4 million could make a big difference, by allowing the manager to recruit 3-4 decent players. With a few new more experienced players and the retaining of our best young players we may be able to move forward again.
