Apart from going bankrupt can the situation be any more depressing than it currently is:102: . The club as adopted the policy of bringing through young players because of the fianances. Under MA we were all a bit wazzed off with the recruitmant of older players. The problem for me is that there are no guarantees that any of these younger players will ever really make the grade. We have had many young players over the years with the odd little gem standing out ( Heskey, Joachim). But for those couple there have been far more that have gone in the other direction and disappeared back into the lower leagues. Imo the club is better off going down the youth route but with too many of them in the team then i can't see us improving sufficiently to challenge. Whatever peoples opinions are about MM, we do need his money. Even 3-4 million could make a big difference, by allowing the manager to recruit 3-4 decent players. With a few new more experienced players and the retaining of our best young players we may be able to move forward again.

Agreed, something needs to change..its obvious.we have slowly sunk into mediocrity.People, like myself have just accepted that we are shite.i will always support my team but I'm not going to kid myself that as things we stand we are going nowhere but eventualy into a lower tier:icon_sad:

I am with you on that one HF, but the club have to preserve our record of not ever being out of the top 2 divisions. I think we are one of 10 clubs to be able to say that and we must not make it 9

As far as I see it Mandaric is a business man first a football fan second, all good businessmen have an 'exit strategy'

He'll probably have a plan something like this written on the back of a beer mat
1. Initial share buy-out and re-negotiate with Teacher re stadium costs
2. Change manager and provide transfer budget
3. Promotion to Premier League in 07/08 season
4. Further funds for players
5. Consolidation in Premier League 08/09-12/13
6. 2014 Sell up and feck off with a mark-up of 20% spent in 1/2/4/5

I'd be happy with that. If he makes a lot money from us in 5-10 years time, then chances are we have become more successful than when he first took over

Precisely

And if he does stitch us up in five years time we will have had some fun on the way - and delayed the club's inevitable painful death by five whole years. We can't lose

I don't think he'll re-negotiate this, I actually can him see negotiating to buy the stadium for the club. This will be the big comeback he will have when decides to leave. This will also give something to bargin with when he restructures our finances for the long term purpose of making us viable as a club and attractive to future buyers or investors.

Spot on.

If mandaric does take over, we are not all going to like or agree with everything he does, but if you concider his past results and his objective, which is to make money then as long as he achieves his objective it can only mean the club is a better club than it is today. so before anyone condems mandaric they should ask themselves. if they think the club will be better of with him and his money, or worse of.

The answer has to be that the club will be better of, and so will we

What happens if number 3 doesn't happen?

What happens if no one wants to buy the club?
Even if we get promoted there's no guarantee that anyone would want us.

Can't see that happening. Looking at Portsmouth, he's had a history of minimising the potential downside - most of his money was put as loans, the new stadium was never built etc.etc. Coughing up £17 million to put the stadium in the club's name seems mighty implausible since that would put the total expense (buying the club, buying in a new manager and a few signings) pretty close to £30 million. Which is probably more than he has (given the Portsmouth sale was for £30 million and some reports suggest he was out of cash by then) and certainly more than he could get for the club if he sold it having failed to get promotion.

What the feck is all the urgency with buying the stadium all about? I would rather see the money going into buying a good squad, then when back in the premiership when more money comes in then think about it.... but until then feck it.. get the better squad in place first

While you're right BG we need to pay off the stadium debt, that is definitely a priority to move this club forward.

The stadium debt doesn't need to be paid off - we either need to get into the premiership - so the payments are more affordable, or the debt needs to be reduced, to make it affordable at this level.

Many companies don't own their own premises, football clubs included, paying a mortgage or lease on a stadium is a 'normal' thing to do and nothing to be concerned about. It's the amount we have to pay at the moment compared to our income that's the problem.

also when they want to buy can negotiate a very long term, which reduces payments and can be budgeted for. The buying of the stadium is not a priority.

Or Milan, or whoever, buys the stadium, and then says he has blown all his cash on the purchase of the monster and there is feck all for players. 1st division here we come.
Its a tough choice....:icon_roll

Purchase of the stadium will save £1,000,000+ in interest and mean that all ticket sales go to to the club.

If MM managed to sell Portsmouth to a rich Russian, i'm sure he would be able to sell Leicester.

Although it sometimes seems hard to believe, there are only a finite number of Eastern European villains willing to lose money on British football to divert attention away from their crooked dealings elsewhere. Even Berozovsky seems to have lost interest in West Ham, now.

Rich American then :) I was just using that as an example.

I would welcome him, right now we are barely treading water and could end up going under.

I am very supicious of Mr.Mandaric when I think about it more carefully.

For some who charges £35 for football in a tin shed and hes made numerous terrible managerial decisions.

The board needs a change but I think a more experienced management is needed for the club to progress.
