Cheapest Pompey tickets are £27 actually

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make. The cheapest Portsmouth (please call them Portsmouth) adult tickets are £28. Previous posters have referred to it being £35 to get a roof over your head and £35 to sit in a tin shed, both of which statements are true. £28 gets you neither roof nor shed.

The point I was making is that he could make money at the club's expense not necessarily for the benefit of the club because he would not be doing it for the love of the club. I'm neither for or against at this stage but like Jeff I was trying to point out that there is a possible downside.

Why would MM want to buy lcfc? He's not a Jack Walker or a Steve Gibson who is willing to give his cash to his football club and he's not an Abromovic with bottomless pockets. He's a reasonably wealthy businessman looking to make some money. If, along the way, he can get a bit of limelight and adulation and indulge a love of football, then that is a bonus for him. I'm not saying I don't want him but any club needs to be carefull when somebody gets invoved for profit. If it doesn't work out fairly quickly then he will almost certainly take his money back and run leaving us deeper in the shite than we are now. Plenty of rich men have sunk fortunes into football clubs with very little success, see Jack Hayward and Wolves. On the other hand there are examples of well run clubs getting success with little in the way of financial backing, see Charlton and Leicester in a previous life. Accepting the Mandaric money could easily turn in to a millstone round our necks.

around the clubs neck, not mine....

If he turns the club around and sells it on for a profit it means he's been successful and i'm fine with that.

If he gets us into the Premiership and we stay there for a couple of seasons the club would become self sufficient and not need a rich benefactor.

Two big "ifs" there Drew. If it doesn't work out he'll up sticks, take his money,go and "support" another club and leave our club in the shite.

They are big 'Ifs', and i dare say i'm hoping that it happens. LCFC has a future at the moment, the chances are it would be brighter with MM at the helm.

It would take much longer than that, don't forget Premiership standard players expect Premiership wages, so there is a massive wage bill increase too.

Also it depends if MM did make a bid, would he buy the stadium, that would make a massive difference to year on year funds in any division

If we get to the premiership the 25-30million p.a in TV revenue comes in handy for players wages. Add in to that higher crowds and season ticket sales.

Any new players would have to be signed on a performance related pay and clauses accounting for what league we are in, which i believe are in place anyway. Its a good idea and how the whole of football clubs should work.

If it dont work out, how can an investor take his money and go, cos if it dont work there wont be any money to take. DOH

For a two letter word. "IF" is a hell of a big word and under that assumption, that "IF" MM invests and "IF" it dont work we will be in the shite. The club should close down now just in case it has to close down in the future.

According to you no one can invest in the club, just in case it dont work. DOH

We are doomed if he dont invest and doomed if he does. what is the right thing to do?

So many people will only be happy if things dont change.

We've been there before and not been self-sufficient. There's no guarantee it would be any different in the future.

Ye but that was by a former regime, hopefully we have learnt and moved on form that point.

MM seems to learn and fix mistakes that he makes, re-hiring Redknapp was probably one of the hardest things for him to do, but he did it and moved on.

Point taken, but the economics for a club like Leicester make it difficult to be break-even over the longer term, let alone profitable. Past history points towards the fact we are a yo-yo club, and whoever owns the club must ensure that in the event of relagation our financial structure is such that the club is not plunged in administration again.

The added revenue of a season in the premiership would make us into a profit making organistaion. However taking into account the mercenaries and their agents this windfall is soon eaten away.

West Brom spent a season in the Prem with a minimal budget to bank the cash. Subsequently they were relegated and used the cash to bounce straight back. Although they were relegated 2 seasons later.

I fully understand that it is a fine line with regards to an investors motives and intentions. Although i believe Mandaric has demonstrated in the past his intentions and ability. At 68 years old i doubt he is doing this to improve his fortune, this would probably be his final swansong and possibly his most impressive.

I'd be delighted if MM or anyone else invests in the club, I just want to see the terms of the investment before I get excited. If the investment is in the form of loans secured against what few assets we have left then I'm not so sure it's a good idea. I don't think we are doomed without investment, we are just faced with the prospect of a few lean years.

Hi all

I Think this sums the issue up at the moment. This takeover, if it were to happen could be the best thing to happen to the club. (or not, but i doubt it would be the worst)

With MMs record however, i am inclined to believe his plans would benefit the club, as well as himself of course.

As for him not being a fan and being in it to make money, i believe this is probably better than having a fan. Consider Forest, a chairman with money and ambition, but clearly no ability when it comes to using that to bring success. Our current regime are fans, who have good buisness sense and have stabilised the club, But lack the funds to make us progress.

MM is a buisness man, but he can't make money from LCFC unless he improves our fortunes (in every sense) At the moment we are getting deeper in to debt, solving this would mean getting us into the premiership and/or better terms on a mortgage. the latter on its own would hardly raise the value of the club. Also for him to make money he would have to make LCFC a profit making buisness, this means premiership football. And MM knows that attaining premiership football would require investment. Speculate to accumulate. Both parties win.

If it didn't work out, i can't see the club being too much worse off. he can't take what we haven't got. he could recoup some money from floating the club on the market again. but he couldn't sell the stadium, we have no security.

If MM loans money that we are left to pay back, i don't think this is as bad as it might seem. Under current circumstances the only way we have to get the funds to progress would be loans.

As for ticket prices. we currently pay £25 for Grade B, i confess i don't know the Grade A price (please someone enlighten me) Pompey are paying for a higher grade of football, i think football is now far too expensive, but in relative terms you get what you pay for.

Kop prices are £22 for grade B matches - cheaper for members.
For the equivalent seat at Portsmouth you'd pay over 50% more.

I don't think there are plans to make any league matches grade A this season.

They can't, Leicester City are involved in all our matches, that deserves a "b" fixture before we even look at the opposition
