You will find its based on ground capacity. Smaller grounds have to charge more to try and match revenue of bigger clubs, this is acheivable especially if demand outstrips supply.

Obviously, the price they can charge is based on supply and demand - but that doesn't mean they have to charge rip-off prices. In the long term this can deter less well off fans - and they might be gone for life. Those who only go because they're in the Premiership won't be around when they get relegated. The prices they're charging will alienate some fans and that isn't a good thing to do in the long term.
Gate money only makes up a relatively small proportion of a Premiership club's income - and someone like Gaydamak shouldn't have to extract every last penny he can.

do we have the prices for when pompy was in this division? I expect he sorted it out on the field first then concentrated on raising revenue and getting a payback.

Would it not be poor business to sell tickets for less than we could? Do we really expect in this day and age a club to charge £25 for tickets they could sell at £35 or £45??

But that's a very short term way of thinking about it. Goodwill is important in any business and if you want to keep your customers you can't keep ripping them off. Eventually even football fans will refuse to pay - and when they do they might not come back even if you put the prices down again.

If the demand is still there at £35 or £45 then surely those people dont feel they are being ripped off.

Course they would

Football clubs are a localised monopoly. If LCFC put another 50% on season tickets (and the same on match day tickets) I'd probably still get one because I have little or no alternative - but I'd be absolutely bloody fuming about it and it would be a complete and utter rip-off

The football market doesn't follow normal rules of supply and demand

They might grudgingly pay it to start with, but after a while they'll find better things to spend their money on.
A football club isn't like another business, they should treat their customers with respect if they want them to keep coming back through the bad times as well as the good.

I disagree, fans moan about being 'priced out of the game' well feckin accept it! Ive been 'priced out the Ferrari market' but I dont bleet on about it.

But if you can't afford a Ferrari you'll buy something cheaper. You can't go and support a cheaper football team, football doesn't work like that. Football clubs know this, and will take advantage of the loyalty of their supporters.

Its horses for courses, maybe we should give tickets away to people on the dole then??

Not me, I'm a whizz in the F50 GT :icon_wink

A Ferrari is that price for a reason, it is the best car in the world.

That is the first time I have heard Leicester City used in the same anology as a Ferrari without there being a negative in the middle.

If I had the money, I still wouldn't pay Ferrari prices for an Austin Allegro

Ferrari charge £100k for a car because there is a demand for them at that price. Austin didnt charge £100k for the Allegro because there wouldnt have been a demand at that price.

Im not comparing LCFC to a Ferrari at all, perhaps a Hyundai Getz??

More like an Insurance write off :icon_lol:

On that basis why charge only £10 to ST's for Villa?

because they know no fecker would come if it was too high a price. £15 or higher and I would not have gone, villa or not the opposition does not come into it

One day clubs will realise that it's better to fill the ground at £10 a head than half fill it at £20.
