Am I the only one who thinks its not that over the top in price? Especially for a striker we know can score goals at this level

Can we also give Sousa some credit for the signing. He has come in for quite a bit of stick lately so lets give credit where it's deserved eh.

You laugh but Sousa has previous in allowing the upper powers of a club buy ex-loanee's for his team.
The story on the OS has no quotes from Sousa, but a quote from Mandaric. The story about Abe also contained no quotes from Sousa. Neither signing was pictured with Sousa.

I'm sure the Abe photo was taken last week when the deal was done, because he then went back to Japan waiting for the work permit to be sorted out and he won't join up with the squad until after the weekend.

No - but it's unusual for there to be no picture or quotes from the manager, so someone reading between the lines might think they're not really his signings. Or there could be a perfectly reasonable explanation for it.

Maybe he's still cleaning the back seat of MM's car.
I've just looked back at the OS announcements for our other signings and none of them have the traditional manager and new player photo, and only one of them has a quote from the manager.
So maybe Sousa doesn't do things the way previous managers - or the website person doesn't do things the way previous website people have.

Even so, I doubt Sousa was the driving force in these signings. I hope he approves of them though.

I must have imagined new signings being pictured with the manager in the past, I can't find any of Pearson being pictured with new players either.
Maybe it was an Allen/Holloway thing. The OS stories for most of Pearson's signings seem to be accompanied by a quote from the chairman rather than the manager too. So that must mean none of Pearson's signings were really his. Pearson out!

DJ gone (against Sousa's wishes?) , Waghorn back (last season favourite), Abe signed (far-east player), Fryatt, Gallagher, King, Wellens all still here may indicate MM/new owner intervention and that Sousa did not have his way. Thankfully, the team has been strengthened today. Our best players were not sold and the new players are good.
I miss those days...
