I went to Villa Vs Everton yesterday. They too have taken up the digital season tickets (although they've gone lock stock on the implementation this season, rather than the more phased approach we've had) and this was the queue outside the ground with 10 mins to KO. Absolutely no idea why as it was the same system we have when you got to the turnstile.
They had people leafletting outside the ground to stop taxing loyalty and some in the queue ahead of me had physical season ticket cards, so assume they've charged for them too.
Seems these issues are not unique to our club.

I've not had a single issue with mine. Nobody I know has had a single issue with theirs. No one in front of me at the turnstiles has had a single issue with theirs.

I live in Birmingham, other than family, I don't know another Leicester fan in person (maybe that's why I've been posting here for the past 25 years), but I do know a lot of Villa fans and occasionally they give me free tickets.

Same. Never had an issue - whereas I have had a lot of issues with paper tickets not arriving in the post.
