Derbyshire better than Yakubu? Surely you are taking the piss mate. Unbelieveable.

As for the mercury article featuring Alan Young....He is fast becoming one of my least favorite human beings in the world. His comments about football are antiquated at best, xenophobic at worst.

What he said.

Hopefully not true at all

Absolute cack, and that's being very generous

Yeah, I'm not that sold either, though I don't think he's a terrible player. Not sure he's top standard either though. I'll be fecking stunned if he averages goals at the rate Yak was.

Could be decent, but would rather have Yakubu or Nugent. Maybe Maynard too, although I've not seen much of him.

Derbyshire isn't up to the same standard as the Yak though, where seeing him on the top sheet will instantly worry the opposition.

I'm fairly confident that Derbyshire (if he joins) will come in as well as Nugent.

Yakubu may well worry the opposition, however there are other alternatives and teams have been promoted with strikers who are not as prolific as some claim Yakubu to be.

However and for the record I think signing Yakubu would have been a good move, but I'm happy the club are looking at decent cheaper options.

I think he falls in the i have heard of him but don't know much about him bracket, given that he was highly thought of in his Blackburn days, and that he was good enough for Olympiakos,he could turn to be a decent signing at this level

Polite request to player threads posters:

Not all of us know who all the players at all the clubs are. A simple Matt Derbyshire, 25, Birmingham City striker will, I am sure, save quite a few people from having to Google to find out who he is.

I fail to see how this will be useful in the impending "Shitpants to sign" thread.
