Err Webbo, what happened to that Dave Buchanan?

His Leicester 'record' was broken earlier this season.

Spent a lot of time towards the end of his career playing non league football in the North East, where he was originally from.

He looked good early on in his career, but he never achieved his full potential - possibly due to his attitude rather than his ability.

I don't think we'll never know if Piper would have fulfilled his potential - maybe if he'd stayed with us we'd be in the Premiership now - or maybe he'd have ended up in the lower divisions like so many of our 'promising' young players have done in recent years. In my opinion he was a different class to the likes of Campbell, Wilson, Reeves, Ashton, Wright etc, who some people got excited about.

He broke an ankle playing for us in a minor cup final, then moved to Peterborough when he recovered. He got pissed off with the game and returned to his native north-east where he sarted working in a sports centre, whilst playing local junior football. He was seen by Sunderland and persuaded to sign for them but Sunderland went down into the 3rd division and Buchanan decided he had had enough of senior football. He played a bit longer in local leagues in the north-east but packed it up while he was still in his 20s. Did a bit in management up there and, I think, he is still doing so. More potential never realised.

Which bit are you agreeing with?

The bit where they misquote someone so they can have a rant?

He agrees with everything, after the day I have had a good rant is just the tonic.

Matt Piper struck me as a talented young winger but too slight for his own good and unlikely to score many goals. He had potential but was wonderfully talked up.

excellent point, just what I was trying to say. He did not play enough games in my mind to show he could do it for the long haul. There have been hundreds of players his age who showed the same "potential" at other clubs, moved to a bigger club and the bottom of the world fell out.

Youngest ever first team player.

David Buchanan is still the youngest player to appear for Leicester in both the League and the FA Cup. He is also the youngest player ever to start a game for the club.

Ashley Chambers broke the overall record for youngest appearance and Bob Newton's League Cup record; Bob retains the record for the youngest starter in the League Cup.

Let's all hope that Ashley Chambers will enjoy more than his one minute of fame thus far.
