Had his finest game for City on Saturday - quite refreshing cos it looked like he was beginning to get bogged down with it all.

this season i'd say other than a couple of games he has looked shit, but going by saturday's performance it may help him play to potential if he has a team around him

Yeah, having an actual winger in front of him does benefit him, before I think too much pressure was been put on him to get forward, which meant he kept getting exposed. Now he seems much more stable playing as a proper left back.

No need to sell him at all, which is good.

Sneakily, MM has accepted West Ham's bid for this guy, although the phone line may have been bad

It would be a big shame selling Mattock in a few years he will be in the England first team squad.

says? mystic meg or football manager? he is a decent player, whether i'd put my money on him getting a cap is another thing

He's left sided and already had an U21 cap at 17 (admittedly mainly due to injuries). I'd definetely have money on him playing for England one day.

"A few years" maybe a bit too short. But as long as he is able to progress properly and isn't hit by any horrible injuries, then I see no reason he won't play for England.

how many players have played for u21s then ended up declaring for jamaica/wales/scotland etc as they just seemed decent for their age. if we were in the premiership spurs would bid £10m like they do with any promising young english player, we should hold out....

erhh the reason is because there's no point in selling JM for 2million because i doubt we would be able to pick up a good enough replacement left back. However if we were to sell for 5 million we could probably buy a quality GK and a new left back. Thus improving the squad; I would have thought that was obvious. Who gives a crap about money in the bank.

(Presuming that any money that we get for JM would be put back into the team of course)

£5 million for Joe Mattock..........have you gone mad??

Maybe we could also get £3 million for Rab Douglas while we are at it!
