I was told last season that most of the big clubs were sniffing around, apparently his dads a city fan and wants him to stay until he can move to a bigger club and play in the first team rather than be stuck in the reserves.

I know someone who is a friend of the Mattock family & he has also said that Joe doesn't want to go anywhere, he just wants to play for the club he supports & get regular games, not sit in the reserves at a large club.

There is no danger of anyone offering that at the minute. Joe has played less than 50 games (I don't actually know how many) in a struggling Championship team and has been just as culpable as anyone - I especially think back to Charlton away when he was truly woeful.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a cracking prospect and will be a great player. I also think we're right to not sell him, but no club will offer anything over £2MM for him currently and I doubt that any will offer much more than the alleged £1MM we have turned down already.

Fair point - probably less than Mattock has played, but most of them were in the Prem and he looked like one of our best players then. Mattock's playing low-end Championship and not usually looking like one of our best players (although even if he was, it wouldn't be saying a lot this year...or last...or the one before that!).
