Obviously youve seen something i havent. Explain :102:

Obviously so has Stuart Pearce

And, obviously, so has the club that bid over a million quid for a raw 17 year old with limited first team experience a couple of weeks ago.......

Still not answered my question.

I watch him for us and i dont think hes the dogs that everybody else does.

Ollie has brought in Clapham and has said he would send out Joe on loan.

I honestly dont think hes that good.

Walcott, lennon and the villa lad, now theres raw talent. Mattock....i dont think so.

What he said!!

What I see is a 17 year old lad who has not only broke into our first team (albeit we are not that good at the moment), but is playing for his countries under 21 national side with players nearly four years older. He is raw and all the things you point out would be valid if he was ten years older.

You think so ? There you go I think he's well over-rated,only have to breath on him and he falls over.Mattock was ok IMO,not outstanding but ok.I thought Garvan was the best player on the field myself

Biff, opinions are opinions, IMO it is a lot easier to be a young attacking player like the ones you point out, bit of pace, bit of skill, an eye for goal, any mistakes they make do not matter so far up the pitch. Defenders take longer to develope, they need to try and read what another player is going to do rather than this is what I am going to do.
You might be right and he ends up on the ever growing pile of 'they were so good when they were younger' lot, I just felt your comments were a bit unfair on a player that is so young and still learning his trade.

They're all two/three years older than Mattock - and have two/three years more first team experience

Nobody thinks he is 'the dogs' - everyone can see a very young inexperienced player who has the potential to be an excellent player, as evidenced by his performance in a number of games, and recognised as such by many in the game

But obviously he's not good enough if you say so - clearly he should be the best player in our whole squad, who should be outstanding in every single game week in week out, otherwise he must be an absolute dud :icon_roll

Hes the first choice left back for england u21's at the age of 17, the youngest ever bar Walcott. He is clearly going to develop in to a Premiership player, of what stature will be defined over the next 2-3 years.

I agree hes young and i said that, but he still makes basic mistakes, even for a 17 yr old.

Ive watched him, he ball watches, gets caught out of position, lacks pace and is turned inside out by wingers most matches.

I think hes an average 17yr old and will become an average player, thats all imo.

As for getting offers for him in the region of a million, all i can say is why is he still here. and that goes for Stearman too.

because the club value them more than the bids or we dont want to let them go :102:

Exactly so why you still posting.

Homer you go to games every now and again (when hair appointments allow), he gets roasted down the line by average wingers week in week out. Hes slow, even you cant tell me hes 'pacey'. I cant see him fulfilling 'some' peoples prophecies, thats all.

no wonder the cnut walks funny and has no pace......

Really? He was superb against Mifsud. That's the players whose ripped Man United and Blackburn apart this season.

Im not saying he cant have a good game , even tho cov, and misfud especially, were crap that day.

IMO hes not the future answer to our left back problems. He should be loaned out and learn to correct his obvious faults, at someone elses expense and not ours, like Ollie said in the moan in. Clapham will be in on saturday, and will do a good job for us.
