From the little I've seen of him he's alarmingly slow, which is not a good starting place for a full back.

I don't think he's slow, or neccessarily bad at tackling, it's just his positional sense is, well, ****ing awful.
My view is that there is very little wrong with McGivern as a player except for his atrocious positional sense. Fortunately for him, that is something that can and will be learnt over time.
I cannot imagine for one second that he has a chance at Man City so he could end up here permanently. I for one wouldn't be against this. I think he will develop into a good left back.
Yeh but he is stupidly slow. I dont think I have ever seen a player of his age at this level who is as slow as him.
