Sorry if that seems a stupid post but if Pete is who I think he may be havent seen him for years,,and we go back a long way through city.If its him he will understand if not what the fck ive always been an idiot

Don't recognise the term I'm afriad. I originally hail from Rugby, was a member of the Rugby Leicester City supporters club who used to go on the bus from corporation street to games.

biggest crowd I was in there was against Arsenal in a cup replay. A cold tuesday night and there was touching 40,000 there. If I am right we drew it 1-1 and the Birch scored for us, another replay the following week and they won 1-0

I was in pen 3 that night. 1975 I beleive. We went 1-0 down and then equalised. All the kop - pen 1 to pen 4 - were singing "you'll never walk alone" so loud that it echoed back at us. Never forget that.

That will probably never happen at the WS and will probably never happen in the FA Cup anywhere again.

It surprises me that the ground record was set in 1928 at in excess of 47,200 and yet by the early 1960s and without any significant changes in the stadium and the capacity was limited to 42,000 - it felt that we were packed in like the proverbial sardines. I do remember one particular occasion which i think was an FA Cup replay against Birmingham City when the gate at the Filbert Street Stand/ Popular Side intersection was damaged that there were maybe 44,000 on the ground taking account of those who got in without paying.
The ground did have a tremendous atmosphere particularly in the days when it was all standing (except for the upper Double Decker and the old main stand.). I think there was a bigger roar then when City took the field than when they (rarely) score a goal at the Walkers.

I think it was a league game against Spurs in their double season - the crowd certainly broke those gates that day. There were also people walking along the roof of the popular side and sitting along the ridge - god knows how no-one went through the asbestos sheeting!

We usually went in the pop then, but when we arrived (about an hour early) the police were already directing people away from there to the kop. We got in OK and stood abour 1/3 of the way along. gradually we got pushed further until we were behind the goal, where the pressure from both ends kept increasing - there were no pens or gangways then, just a continuous terrace with a few crush rails. We had just got ourselves in front of one of them when the whole crowd rocked as if a tidal wave had hit it - that was when the gates went down. My mate got his fags out (a majority were smokers then) and found his arm was trapped up in the air holding the packet. Looking round you could see others in the same plight - rather surreal, dozens of arms raised holding fag packets! The crush gradually eased a bit as the game got started and people shuffled round, but it must have taken over half an hour to get out at the end, which is when we saw what had happened to the gates.

I shudder to think now what might have happened, but at the time it was just a big laugh, and everyone remained remarkably good humoured. I'd love to see some of that atmosphere back, but not the dangerous conditions.

I know someone who has 2 of the seats in their backgarden.

Hinckley United had some of the old seats but they went with the old stadium.

The new stadium at Hinckley has the under soil sprinkler sytem from filbo i believe

When I first moved to Rugby, Corporation Street wasn't even really a though-route. City fans used to catch Marvin's coach which left from the bottom of North Street.

unfortunately i only got to spend 2 years at filbo, and they were the taylor/basset years. aside from the lack of a ground with any character, ive not had a footballing hero since muzzy, the older city fans have weller, glover, worthington to look back on. i even missed out on walshy and heskey for christs sake. looking back i only got to go to 40 odd games at filbo, i just which i had been old enought to appreciate it more........

I've got the 'Home Team' sign from above the dressing room door.....agree with Homer on the old Main Stand piccy...first season ticket was there as kid...later migrated in my new doc martens to Pen 3.....

I have no good memories about this club, they've been erased.

You must be very proud.......

Never even had it properly mounted. It's just standing on top of a wall unit in my 'den'. Planned to put it on eBay but postage would outweigh any potential profit!

The cost of putting it on the site to sell would - even on 1p listing day.......

I had half of a Filbert St brick which I used to house in my coat pocket and I constantly got the piss taken out of me for keeping it with me. After one PE session, someone destroyed whilst nicking 50+ pokemen cards.

I think the fixture you are referring to against Spurs took place at Easter 1963 - probably on the Saturday. I was qeueing for the double decker and failed to get in.

I'm reasonably sure that the other match I referred to was an evening kick off FA Cup replay - when lots of Birmingham fans arrived just before the kick off and charged the gate in question.
