There are quite a few other grounds doing both the above. I'd like to hear us promoting something original.

I've seen a thread on here before about what music we should play as a goal celebration, I don't want to kick that off again. It would be nice if we could generate an atmosphere that didn't have to be brought to life by a PA or Jobber with a drum.

I'd read that the new Liverpool ground was being acoustically designed to encourage volume, so as to continue the idea of the Kop being their 12th man. These flat pack stadiums which we have shamefully adopted as our spiritual home, didn't incorporate this (apart from the Perspex on the top row being beaten). Riverside, Lack of pride park, St Mary's Stadium, even Arsenal and Man U has suffered from new builds and development. Arsenal have specifically given an area to more vocal (singers) and I've heard the atmosphere is improving. Perhaps a percentage of the capacity could be reverted back to terracing, this might even reduce the cost of tickets.

There may be some on here who couldn't care less but I for one think it's important to vocally get behind the lads as much as possible, I'm sure the great support yesterday had a positive effect on our result.

As a kid I was always in the main stand and had to beg my dad to let me stand in SK3. I used to be jealous of the everyone standing seemingly having more of a laugh. Mind you back then we had a sh-te team and not much to laugh about!

I thought that was in the original plan - to keep the noise inside the ground in order to comply with planning regulations, and at the same time "improve atmosphere". They obviously didn't do a very good job of it though!

Lack of pride park

Without wishing to sound too critical, if you look around the ground when the above two are playing you will surely notice that a significant proportion of the crowd would disagree with you.

I'm no fan of mood determining music at grounds, quite the opposite, but was happy enough when City adopted 'Hey Jude' this season...as more seasoned forum subscribers may recall this was an original Kop anthem at Filbo-from the late 60's through to the Bloomfield era I reckon...

not as convinced by the Fratellis tune....'Leicester Dagger' would have been a more bearable title.....certainly gets the BM's bouncing though.... :icon_wink

bit harsh. just because people bounce around to chelsea dagger it doesn't mean there a BM. what do you expect people to do when chelsea dagger comes on stop celebrating and stand still.

Fair enough....and it was a tongue-in-cheek comment hence the wink....I reckon we've all bounced around to it this season at one point or another....less times than we would have liked to as well!

I'm just not a fan of goal celebration tunes...

Yep it reminds me of Ice hockey in North America, maybe they should start letting the players scrap and be able to push the ref over.

Have they started selling corn dogs in the 1884 yet?

And since the ground has been downgraded into a plastic bowl plan....that's if the Yanks stay in town for long enough.

I've not been to Anfield for quite a few years now - but my impression from the TV is that the (seated) Kop is not much more vociferous than most these days.

Basically, the make up of football crowds has changed substantially and it's become much more like going to the Yankee Ball Game than the raw and intimidating atmosphere that used to be generated on many grounds.

To be honest there weren't many more intimidating grounds than Filbert Street, when it was mainly standing areas and was packed....largely because of the proximity of the crowd to the pitch. They wrecked all that when they started seating the enclosure and especially that awful cheapo seating set up that replaced the Popular Side.
