yeah i'm going to be there tour guide when they come here to visit me ;)

alex we all agree the full backing and support for the manager and much more support for chris coleman as the manager,

I'm absolutely sure you're wrong about that.

So it is not Ince or Coleman immediately?

Is Milan considering a role for Worthington as Director of Football or just waiting for the Premiership to finish so he can 'tap-up' his choice for manager?

Alexander Pope's Essay on Criticism (1709): said:
"No place so sacred from such fops is barr'd ... Nay, fly to altars; there they'll talk you dead; For fools rush in where angels fear to tread."

I am really going to try and not read every thread about this subject this time. I need to keep sane.

But an appointment's just around the corner................

Take all the time you need Milan..... Just get the right fcuker in.

Thank goodness for some commonsense.

Did the unusually decent Spring weather give posters a more than usual touch of the sun.

For goodness sake - get real everyone.

Fact 1 - We are a struggling championship outfit;

Fact 2 - MM is not a guy to seriously splash the cash on players and we knew that when he took the club over for peanuts. Many of us welcomed the takeover on the basis that he would provide leadership where there was previously a void.

However, to imagine that managers who are both successful and big names are going to regard the Leicester job as their prime target is ridiculous.

My best guess is that MM is having to work really hard to persuade anyone decent to take on the job. He may or may not suceed but it will be difficult.

As for the absurd idea of having Worthington as a Director of Football? Why? Do we want to have two competing managers? In a club the size of Leicester is there justification for having a manager and a director post? Would someone like Ince or Coleman or anyone with anyone about them welcome such a botch? I don't think so.

Whoever takes over will have a right load of rubbish on their books with no obvious way of moving much of it elsewhere. And no pot of gold. Where is the rush going to come from?

If he takes wigan down then how is Jewell successful, surely Coleman is more succesful having never taken a club down but i don't hear the people being ridiculed when they suggest his name.seems some like to ridicule and humiliate others but are unable to come up with a name themselves incase they themselves are ridiculed,Safety in numbers and all that I suppose

Thanks for that HF!

I think the point is - and I suspect that you share the view - that people have silly ideas about how attractive a job it is.

I think Coleman would be a fine appointment - and if he does come to the Walkers MM will have done brilliantly. But, I don't think it will happen.

As for Jewell - my guess is that the last thing he would enjoy would be taking on Leicester, then having the problem of keeping us up. That said, he too would be an excellent appointment and he does have a problem now given that it will be difficult to find another Premiership club.

Somehow, I dont think it will be either Coleman or Jewell. I assume Ince would jump at the chance on the basis of a step up the ladder.....but I think that would be us taking an awfully big chance. Billy Davies could be a possibility if Derby miss out......but would he welcome working for MM? I really don't know about that.

Sorry RF it wasn't really aimed at you,I just don't think Jewell is that ridiculous a suggestion and certainly not in the same bracket as the Strachan,Allardyce suugestions.I think it will be Ince assisted by Ferdinand for the record.
The other post was light hearted, you do like a moan but don't we all:icon_wink

Not a problem at all HF. No offence taken.

You are quite right, I do like a moan and can have a slightly destructive style,

However, I am very jaundiced by the last few seasons and, in particular, see another thread, the what i see as the bad attitude of the players.

I was and am all in favour of the MM takeover but what a job he has taken on.

I was really getting at the absurd names mentioned by some.....not Jewell who may be a very outside possibility....but those mentioned by those who are so deluded that they seem to think we are akin to AC Milan - when in fact we are more like Hinckley United.

(clears throat)

Coleman will not be the next manager (he's said as much in numerous interviews). Nor will Worthington (the fact that a decision is not made by now proves this point). I would be very surprised if we appointed a has-been or a never has-been. This would rule out a number of those mentioned including Megson, Roeder, Robson, Hoddle, Ince, Lennon etc. I think he's learnt his lesson on managers who are not used to England so won't go down that route. We simply won't get one of the cuckoo picks such as Allardyce and Keegan. They'd demand the sort of funds MM could never provide.

In my view, MM wants a name. He needs someone who will suggest that we are going places/have the ambition to go places. Someone who is both available and would take the job as a perfect opportunity to rebuild an unfairly tarnished reputation. Someone with a pedigree in developing young players from academy's and combining them with smart signings.

Step forward the obvious candidate and the person I back to be our next manager. . . .

David O'Leary.

Preferably with Lennon as player / asst manager.

Lot of sense here - although O'Leary doesn't seem especially popular in this forum.

Don't know whether you know anything - but it wouldn't be an illogical appointment.

However, Lennon as a player/ asst manager. Lennon was a key player in the mid and late nineties......but by the time he left Leicester he was beginning to look really quite slooooooooow! What would he be like now? Would you play him on wheels? Lennon - I don't think so. I know he has an ambition to play a year in the Premiership, which I think is unrealistic but you never know. However, in the kick and rush of the fizzy league, I think it would just be very sad.

Two seemingly diametrically opposed arguments. :102:

Not at all. He's got plenty of managerial experience. His record at Leeds was outstanding and often totally misrepresented. It was hardly his fault that Leeds went bang. He developed players brilliantly (Smith, Kewell, Bowyer, Woodgate etc) and bought very smartly in general. He made the odd dodgy purchase but show me one manager that hasn't?

At Villa, he kept a poor squad in the middle of the Prem without any cash. MON with money has done no more so far. Villa fans didn't like him from day one for no good reason.

I genuinely cannot understand the negativity towards him. It certainly has to be personal rather than professional. I think he's perfect for us and would fit every one of our requirements. Who better do you think we have a hope in hell of getting?

If its not Ince then I know there is a God looking down on us.

But a long shot is Billy Davies at Derby who is about to get kicked out there, and Tigana would be another good un, still has a lot to prove here and his contract in Turkey finishes in the next couple of weeks
