best post so far!

i remember though when O'Neill went and people weren't too happy with the idea of Strachan....Taylor was a popular choice. by my thinking we should employ someone that nobody wants and it can only be better. last season the board wet their little pants at the idea of a cheap shite option after he had won a few games, fortunately wortho has won a few but still isn't popular. i'd love to think we'll get someone who is effective and astute but i can't help but feel we'll end up with a penis or jamie redknapp

They haven't gave the impression they are unhappy, why have Wigan dropped this season could it be Jewell is losing motivation?

Very unprofesional if thats the case. would we want that?

However, to imagine that managers who are both successful and big names are going to regard the Leicester job as their prime target is ridiculous.

My best guess is that MM is having to work really hard to persuade anyone decent to take on the job. He may or may not suceed but it will be difficult.

i get the impression there are more 'decent' managers looking for work than there are premiership jobs.

I think our delay is on account of seeing who is left after the premiership has settled.

I've already found a use for that, it's Jamie Redknapp I can't find a use for.

banging a lass who was stupid enough to think he actually was a footballer? and i mean redknapp not your cock

The other possibility is that Managers are saying no to MM. Was it 7 managers in 5 years at Portsmouth? An incoming manager has to believe he is going to get a fair crack of the whip from his boss. He is not going to get a lot of funds, perhaps £3-4 million to split between fees and wages so possibly no more than perhaps 5 or 6 players in, so probably only 3 out if you are going to have a competitive squad to keep competition for first 16 places.

O'Leary - he is a never-was. Led a Leeds side with a superb crop of English youngsters and then went tits up. Went Villa and was fecking dire.

His managerial record (all games in Prem) is:

Pld 334
Won 148
Drawn 82
Lost 104

Win % of 44%.

In comparison, the apparent people's favourite Chris Coleman has a win % of 35%. Ince has one of 40%. Billy Davies 41%. Newell 42%. MON's win record in England is 40%. Jewell 41%. Worthington 38%.

Many others don't 'tho. At the end of the day we are at present a lowly Championship club - do we need ( or indeed can afford ) two people doing what I consider to be one man's job.

If we get a young and relatively inexperienced manager (such as Ince or Grayson) we may be better off having an experienced coach to work with him (as we did with Kelly for a while when Ray Graydon was here), rather than a DoF.

The fact that Milan has had 4 or 5 weeks to speak to prospective out of work managers suggests to me that his no 1 choice is currently employed at a club that's season is still in progress.

Based on that my list of potentials are :

Harry Redknapp - Has had issues with Pompey and does go back a long way with MM. Could bring son Jamie with him and groom him as a future successor or maybe go as Director of Football with Jamie as Manager.

Paul Jewell - I agree with Highland, he is unhappy and fustrated at Wigan and could view Leicester with MM at the helm as a more attractive proposition in the long term.

Neil Warnock - Long shot but was offered the Pompey job by Mandaric and I may be wrong but will be out of contract in the summer.

Billy Davies - As BG says, fallen out big time with his bosses at Derby, could be a target once the play offs end.

Simon Grayson - Making a decent reputation for himself, again could be a target once the play offs finish.

I think this delay definately rules out Worthington and possibly Ince who IMO would have been appointed tuesday if there was any truth in the rumour and I would be amazed if the out of work managers had not already been interviewed by MM. So I think it will come from the above list.

Harry - No way, he's on the south coast for life now.....He has nothing to prove anymore....

Jewell - Gets paid a fortune at Wigan, we can only hope his ambition sees him want to move to LCFC, which is and will always be a bigger football club in terms of support/history.

Warnock - Absolutely no way - total madness, he's about to keep Sheff UTD up!

Davies - Yes please. My out and out favourite, but I think we may have blown it with him.

Grayson - What a great job he has done. I am hoping he wins the Play Offs by beating Forest in the final - if so, he won't be going anywhere.

Milan has certainly come across as both knowing what he wants and getting it sorted which suggests that the manager he wants is still in a job for at least a week. I agree that when he states that 'taking time to get the right manager is important', he probably means there is a better one he cannot talk to yet! Davies or Jewell maybe.

Spot on GF - the term "Director of Football" can be a major turn off as it's perceived as being very rare that it works, but the term "experienced backroom staff" is considered a must for a young manager. It pretty much amounts to the same thing really.

Don't know about Grayson but Ince already has somebody at Macc (can't remember who) in that sort of capacity.
