The best value 50" is the Panasonic Viera.
You can get it at a screen only with a desktop stand or with a pedistal stand.
Look good. Starts from £995+VAT in Dixons on line.
There is a Full HD version at about £2500 but if you going here then go for the Pioneer. They are the best but pricy. You get what you pay for though.

Samsung is cheaper at sub £1000 but they don't have the pedigree in plasma
LCD yes but not plasma. Best cheap buy though. LG Not bad either
