Good screen but for football LCD suffers.
Because of the back lit technology it suffers with motion blur on fast moving pictures. For football plasma will always be king.

Either you choose plasma and put up with slightly worse pictures on normal TV or you choose LCD and get better normal pictures but lose out on sport.
There is not much to choose on HD but still Sky HD is slightly better on plasma.

Not much to choose on Sky news
You will never see the full benefit anyway of the modern TV's unless you have a Blu Ray or HD DVD player going through a 1080P (Full HD box) anyway.

So go for either a Japanese brand, Philips, Samsung or LG and you should be alright.
