Unfortunately when a club becomes "pc" and contrives to bring in "supporters" from outside the scope of a traditional singing fan, then I'm afraid this is the nett result and we have to deal with it.

But eh, at least we fulfil our quota of oldies, wheelies, Asians, families, kiddies and other non white able bodied males.

Sounds harsh, but thats my opinion as to why we have a lack of atmosphere. Too many "other folk" around that may get upset, especially the wanabee coppers in yellow.

as much as i hate it i happen to agree with you. looking around the Kop today i just remembered the old SK1 and realised how different it was.

I would give anything to be back at our beloved filbo again i really would.

Milan please build filbert street again for us :)

your not wrong melts it was dead today apart from the fans the players didn't help with that performance

Was it all the old pen 1 and pen 2 mob throughout the ground then when we palyed Villa in the Cup? No, if the team performs the crowd get behind them, simple as.

As for MM, why everyone is so elated I don't know. Nobody knows whats in his bid until he makes one.

my vocal support for city is unconditional. unlike most including yourself.

it is proven that getting behind the lads helps them.

you only sing when your winning

Football is different nowadays, you see more women and kids at home matches, which die out the atmoshphere before, it was about beer fights and singing with loud atmospheres you can't have it both ways :102:

Look at Chelsea and Man Utd even JM and SAF have both said recently that the fans are too quiet at there ground so winning doesn't make there atmosphere as good as it used to mainly because of the families, thats just the way football is at the moment.

Biggest load of b*ll*cks I ever heard. You don't know where I sit or who I am. If you did, you wouldn't have written that.

Do you really sing the same amount when we get beaten 3-0 as when we win 3-0. No doubt you try and get the crowd going but it is undeniable that when we play good stuff the atmosphere improves just like at filbert st. We never had a stadium full of die hard supporters we had half the kop who would stay noisy the rest of the stadium occasionally joined in with a song that was predominantly made up of the word "Leicester". Nowts changed.

Good point. But I suspect in the "olden days" there was plenty of singing in the crowds without fighting and trouble.

The main difference was the working class male was almost 100% of the attendance

I think one of main reasons is no one sings is because no one starts it.

When i was a kid, me and my dad went to the footie and it was the main thing i looked forward to all week. we always sat or stood in the kop (chaos corner) and it was the only time i was aloud to swear! I remember picking up the songs quickly and teaching them to him. The kop was the area where you knew the atmosphere was going to be now its more of a competition between the kop and L1!

I personally dont think a match is worth going to if you dont come home with a sore throat, but the kids these days cant learn the words and arent singing because no one else is.

We do only sing when we are winning or when we are playing brilliantly - which is rare at the moment. I do join in with making a noise (cmon city!) when we are pressing - good free kick or corner or good throw near their goal. I don't shout/sing all the time because it distracts from watching the play. I suppose it is because I am middle class that I expect the team to be entertaining me most of the match, not the other way round!

the most entertainment i have seen down the walkers this season is my mate falling down the stairs.

I think what also puts people of is the fact that if they do start chanting everyone looks at them like they are the outcast.

I'm not sure it's just a middle class thing, Mike.
When you sit down, you become a more passive consumer, expecting to be entertained as one would, say, at the cinema or theatre, rather than fully engaged and committed participants - which is what you are more likely to get and feel if you are standing up.
I think!

Sitting down has definitely destroyed the atmosphere and the bland prefab stadiums dont help either especially as the crowd is generally much further away from the playing area - sadly its all gone and nothing can be done to re-create the ambience of Filbert Street, the Baseball Ground and Roker Park etc...although a winning team chasing promotion would certainly help.

I'm more interested in what happens on the pitch, anything else is a distraction.

To be honest...we need a bloody good distraction from the present sad lot.

What happened off the pitch is actually a lot more important than what was happening on the pitch today...and i think nearly everyone knows that.

Frankly, my faith in human nature has been uplifted by today's meeting. I genuinely thought that the weasels were going to undermine a wonderful and unexpected chance (not a guarantee - you can't have those in football) to put back a bit of pride in Leicester City.

As for on the pitch - you can't get blood out of a stone. This team and squad is incapable of competing for a place near the top of the fizzy league and whilst i think the Board were quite right in the circs to give RK a chance at the job..... and with due respect to Kelly, touch wood that MM takes over and brings in someone better - which again doesn't guarantee success, but at least is better than absolutely knowing that things are going nowhere.

Are you suggesting Redditch that RK could not do a better job with better players?

That is the big question, Blue Tinter.

The answer is - 'Yes, probably'. On the basis that it's easier to get results from better players. For instance, I wonder how Fergusson would get on managing Macclesfield?

However, is there any evidence that RK can get the best out of what he has now?....Would you agree that the jury is out on that one?

If MM does takeover....and significant amounts of transfer funds are made available, would it be best to entrust those to RK?..... on balance I don't think he would or should.

I think RK was the right appointment to take over from the hapless Levein. He deserved every credit for salvaging the season; he was a better appointment from bringing in one of the usual retreads...and i guess he was cheap too. However, if LCFC is going to go up a gear or two then i it may be better to bring in someone with a bit more profile and capacity to strike some more energy and perhaps fear into the squad.
