It really is laughable sometimes isn't it? Perhaps people were expecting we'd be able to spunk hundreds of millions on all those wonderful Premier League quality defenders that are littering benches throughout Europe. The time for buying the players we needed was during the summer window. We made a hash of recruitment then but there is next to nothing we could have done to rectify this during January. The only disappointment for me was that we missed a couple of tricks in Robbie Brady and Robert Snodgrass who could have both done a decent job for us.

Disagree on a lot of this.

Brady, Snodgrass as you say could've been good options. Gabbiadini, who we apparently wanted in the summer, has gone to Southampton. Sakho, who we apparently wanted, has gone on loan to Palace. Mbodji sounded like a good option and we didn't up our bid enough to even the amount we got for Schlupp. We wanted Ivanovic and he's gone off to Zenit.

How true the rumours of our interest in some of those players were is up to debate. But there were options out there who have gone elsewhere

I have no idea.
It doesn't happen to me. How long has it been happening?
I installed a forum update a week or so ago, something may have changed.

Anyone else having this problem?

Just today, on my phone

And who is to say we didn't make enquiries for some of these only to be rebuffed? Who's to say, for example, that Sakho wasn't interested because the draw of London is bigger than that of Leicester? I've no idea but the fact is, none of us have. I was disappointed we didn't seem to be in for Brady or Snodgrass but perhaps we were. Perhaps we just aren't as interesting to these players as much as we would have been in the summer.

And that's exactly my point.

I'm pointing out that yes there was something that could've been done in January, if we hadn't made a hash of the recruitment again.

All of those players seem like realistic options that would improve the team/squad. To sign none of them, as well several others we couldn't do (Acerbi etc) implies a mess in the recruitment process again.

The club site talked about how he can play right back, I really hope we haven't signed him to play there instead of dropping Wes

And I am pointing out that the reason we could do next to nothing in January is because we are not anywhere near the exciting, ambitious prospect we were in the summer. Like I say, perhaps we tried to get some or all of those player in but it's far more difficult to convince them to come to a club trying to stave off relegation, than one looking forward to playing in the Champions' League. The summer recruitment process was the cause of all of this - we couldn't really have expected that much to happen in January given the state of things at present.

It could be that any decent player wouldn't want to come here and be on a third of the wages of Vardy or Drinkwater who are currently stealing a wage. Other teams who aren't glamorous have signed players in January.

Yes they did and I don't get it. Are we blacklisted? A 'no go' area? Have we an exacting recruitment policy? Are there FFP considerations? There has to be some reason because we don't seem to able to sign players. Wtf happened to Ramirez??

Palace have been very active, virtually bought in a new team. That might not work for them and doesn't guarantee they'll stay up but at least the club has shown how much staying up means and they're prepared to throw money at it. Boro and Hull have been active too. Seriously, I don't get it. We've got the cash, not just from the Thais but from last year's successes, so it can't be a matter of money. Ranieri can't really be happy with the squad he has; not just talent wise but also mentality. It needed some new blood and we didn't get it. I just don't understand.

Simple, Palace recognise they are in a relegation scrap, nobody within Leicester has even hinted at the possibility.

We have been sleep walking into this calamitous **** up for months and the lack of activity suggests we are still oblivious to how precarious our situation is.

Not me. maybe it's a script blocker?

It seems to me that there is still a belief that last seasons regulars will come good, and so we have only been interested in players who will be happy to sit on the bench and wait. I could understand this thinking in the summer, but now it can only be discribed as ignorant.

It's no coincidence that certain people who had the season off last year are back just as that happens.

Or it could be that we're losing this season. It's easy to be a happy chappy when your team is sitting on top of the league.

I just don't get it. We all know collectively and individually we over performed last season probably by 20%?

A drop off was therefore inevitable but I think we are only playing to 50% of our energy and purpose this season, so why such a calamitous change and to so many players?

I still don't think we should sack Ranieri. At the end of the season I fully expect a fire sale.

They may not be 'glamorous' but none of those teams are in quite the same predicament as us. We look to be in free fall with no way out. We look to have a few very unhappy players who, for whatever reasons feel hard done to. We look to have a manager who is panicking game in game out. We look to have a recruitment policy only Einstein could figure out. Palace seem to be making every effort to change things for the better at all levels. Leicester seem to be imploding. If you were offered the chance to play at Palace (in the capital with all its attractions) or Leicester right now, who would you choose? The January window was always going to be a damp squib for us.
