Yes, but if the Bank says they want their money back, and the player specifically says not just that he might want to leave, but specifically he wants to play in the EPL, with the Champions, then it probably might happen!

This seems to represent great business.

Whilst there is always a chance a player won't settle, I get the feeling that Silva is going to be an excellent acquisition.

Their in deep shit, they need the money just trying damage limitation.

They can do that without a statement that would do more damage to the image of the club if he did leave

The mention of large sums of money in his new contract and the what he's said guff leads me to think he's leaving. Looks like them making sure he looks the greedy **** and not them.

Hold your excitement. Here is a translated press release from Sporting:

1-since the player has renewed its contract in February 2016 involving large sums of money, which was absolutely clear that this extension of the attachment to the sporting cp meant that Adrien Silva would be at the club until the end of his career . This has been said and clearly expressed by the president of the sporting cp to the player, the father of the athlete and their representatives before you consummate the renewal of the contract.

Silva appears to have a different recollection of his chat with the president of the club.

"The president assured me that after so many years of dedication he will not put obstacles to my professional development if an interesting proposal for both parties was made."

Yeah...for BOTH parties.

I was impressed with Silva in the Euros. Did a lot of work and was involved in most of their good attacks. Never seen him play otherwise but on the basis of that I'd be pleased.

Still not sure he fills the DM hole though?

Sporting seem reluctant to let Silva go, its a triky situation and a complex double deal, we obviously want Silva but dont want to jepordise Slimani transfer. Hopefully it can be resolved today because if it drags on until tomorrow it will become less likely
