Speculation Motown's hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Summer 2017 rumours thread

It's a bit of a business model for them. Train them up, loan them out for a fee, and then sell them on for a healthy profit.

If by any chance they get an absolute star come through the ranks, that's purely a bonus.
You are right City Fan.

Their academy and hoovering up of talent is not designed to filter into their first team but to raise funds.

Unfortunately it works very well.

So we are selling Mahrez, Drinkwater and Vardy for 100+ million. Is it possible to join league 2 from next week?

Or you get one like Solanke who gets pissed off by it, runs his contract down and signs for another club.
And get a tribunal fee of approx £3m. Result.

Yes but he is again, unfortunately the exception.

His transfer has to go to a tribunal where Chelsea will be handsomely rewarded for churning him through their system since he was 6 years old. So he won't even be the exception.

Chelsea operate much like a human farm. They feed up their animals until they're in demand and then sell them off to the highest bidder.

Although, whereas most farm animals just go for slaughter, Chelsea youth players have to go to the likes of Watford to die.

The issue I have with this is that there is insufficient investment in the pursuit of excellence. Some of those kids could have been so much tastier had they been fattened up properly.

But the majority don't make the grade, let alone a profit. Perhaps someone can tell us who has come through their buy and loan policy, there must be someone but who?

I am worried about you Brown Nose.

I think I'm correct in saying that money invested in the academy also doesn't count as expenditure, with regards to FFP, whereas the fees they receive for loans and transfers, do count towards income.

Another bonus (if correct).

Nathan Ake
Nathanial Chalobah
Tammy Abraham
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Izzy Brown

To name a few recent ones with barely any thinking. Some have gone on to be sold already - the rest are in the process of being on loan and will no doubt soon be sold.

The Vardy rumour is horrible but hopefully complete nonsense. We simply cannot afford to let him go right now, no matter the price.

I also fear we are in for some departures in the next few days with substandard replacements coming in. I wasn't one to worry about our transfer window but I was always expecting more to follow.

Now it's got the hallmarks of a couple of Luis Hernandez type signings on deadline day.

Lois Remy is still without a home, contracted to Chelsea until next summer.

Given that we showed interest previously, wouldn't be surprised to see a loan if Ulloa or Musa move along.

Probably get torn to shreds here but here goes.....

If DD leaves, get Wilshere in and hope we can get the best out of him in a better atmosphere.

Could be just the quality we need in the middle.

Oh dear. I would be depressed.

No shredding from me, it's an idea as good as any. Maybe someone like Wilshere might well benefit from being a bigger fish in a smaller pound. Some people thrive in such environments.

A question for me re Wilshere is that I have a notion he's injury prone.

Arsenal fans genuinely want Wenger to play him rather than some of the current dross they have in the middle.

If fit, he's a very good player. If fit.

I agree with you in principle, but I think you'd have to have another player too, as it would be a big risk to rely on him being available.
