I'd be surprised if we managed to get that one over the line - we only finished three points above Swansea so I'd have thought he'd be looking to progress further than that.
Should have done it last summer with the lure of Champions League football.

This may be the first of several attempts to sign players this summer that will fail. Other teams will be in for him and he won't choose us in a million years.
If we're going with Shakespeare as manager, who won't attract any player (hmm, do I want to play for Koeman or Shakespeare?), we need to be pulling in players that aren't so sought after, otherwise the summer will be a shambles.

The 'failure' to sign Sigurdsson and other similar players last summer assumes we did not offer a reasonable fee and/or wages, and the club and/or agent were not being particularly greedy.
Also what might look a good player to us might not match the stats/ethos profile that the club uses, and which has generally resulted in the 'right sort of attitude' type player coming here.
It is a quite a while since we signed a lazy git/diva type like Jermaine Beckford who went on to reach the dizzying heights of Preston and Bury.
