Speculation Motown's hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Summer 2017 rumours thread

I am aware of that but I think he has played in a very average team. I think he would thrive in our side.
For a sizeable chunk of last season we struggled to be average. By your reasoning, he's now too good for us.

Deeney 25 mill for a striker that can't get a call up for one of the weakest England squads I can think of.

Could be the other way around, that Ulloa's contract talks are to encourage the Deeney move - either encourage him or to show Watford that we won't be held to ransom for Deeney as we could just keep Ulloa.

I don't recall West Brom winning the title recently?
I like the idea of adding some quality with steel to the side and Iborra and Deeney do that.
If we think, with the addition of £40m+ for Mahrez we could be sat on roughly a quarter of a billion pounds of income from last year then £20m on Deeney is just am investment in the squad, one that will be largely offset of Mendy, Musa and/or Ulloa depart.
No big drama in going after Deeney. It's not a make or break bet for me.
The real interest for me is in if we add Gibson/Mbodji or Acerbi to the ranks and if we can get Sigurdsson or Defrel. Stretching the offer to get Sigurdsson would be the real statement of intent. Barkley has never delivered the stats he has (goals, assists, set pieces) and so there is no certainty he ever will.
Also keeping Kasper, Gray and Chilwell would be a coup
To be honest, I can't remember ever seeing Mbodji, Acerbi or Defrel play before, so I'm not really able comment on them. I definitely think Barkley has lost his way more recently. Ultimately, if he hadn't, then I wouldn't even be suggesting him, as we would have less chance to get him than I believe we have now.

I agree with you, though, Sigurdsson would be my preference too, I've been suggesting him for a while on here, as I think he is exactly what we need.

Mixed reviews on Deeney from Watford supporters and one guy thinks we are going to pay £23mil for him.

Nail.

On.

Head.

"All of a sudden the season's over and everyone's forgiven Deeney's inability to run through defences, create chances, complete key passes, or take good touches. If they want to pay 20m for a statue that takes really pretty penalty kicks, we should be biting their hands off for it. Decent lad but not a good enough footballer."
