Cheers Webbo, glad someone can see further than their own self-image.
A band you liked when they were a tiny dot on the musical spectrum become successful and therefore you can't like them any more? What a load of old horse shit! You only don't like them anymore because you are afraid that when asked who you like, if you say a popular band the other person will say "oh, they are sooo main stream" and hence your coolness will have been questioned. Pathetic. I'm sorry, but it is pathetic.
I like who I like and dislike who I dislike because I like them or dislike them respectively, not because it's cool to like or dislike them. Grow up you brainwashed NME buying charlatans.
(no reference to The Charlatans there - sorry Burgess, Blunt, Collins, Collins (R.I.P.), Brookes, Rogers and to extents, Duffy)
I agree with that, its nothing to do with how popular of unknown they are,you just like what you like IMO.I don't go out of my way to like an unknown band and then drop them when more than 100 people buy their CDs
You still love those Bros. boys don't you HF......

There is also the fact that most of the stuff I like never becomes popular anyway
Thanks Highlander, I wonder if Webbo agrees as well - could be a talkingballs first here - hold on to your trilbies!
Well you cannot really expect us Englishmen to be able to get into technobagpipetriphop highlander never mind the bloody haggis-rap you Scots seem to die for!
I was kind of being serious when I said I don't like it when bands I like become popular. I prefer to listen to stuff other people haven't heard of, it means you can see them live in small venues, and don't have problems getting tickets etc. It's not about 'image', I have enough embarrassing records in my collection, as my previous post proves. But if a band I like does become popular I won't start to dislike them because they're popular, but only if the music becomes crap.
:icon_conf Has posted elsewhere its noticeable that a lot of the stuff I like is from Manchester based bands

But Right Said Freds second album was never going to top their Debut Webbo
C'mon Webbo, humour me, agree, agree, agree! :icon_lol:
He listens to a load of Scottish crap in his shop but he won't admit to liking it :icon_roll
No. Agreeing with you would damage my image more than admitting to owning Bronski Beat and Erasure records.
