One of the really annoying things is that the videos on the page (e.g. the live text updates during games) play automatically on loading. And they're not even particularly relevant to the page.

I don't care what Rio Ferdinand has to say about not wanting to be England captain.

That'll be for preroll ad impressions.
 
Can you point me to other examples for my information. - genuine request.

Non sports: slate, aol, and the daily beast are decent examples.

Team talk does a tabbed approach, sporting news does something very similar.

The Daily Beast doesn't have this feature. I'm not conversant with any of the other sites.

They also have a more standardized list of headlines which I think is what you're missing.


Yes - it's easily manageable. Nothing like the new BBC homepage.
 
Yeah. A combination of the two is the obvious answer.

Ultimately it's about serving as much content as high up the page as you can.
 
According to the Championship page there are only 4 games on Saturday.
