Well said Mr. Pleat.

You'd think Walsh was a one- man band and our scouting network would grind to an immediate halt if he left. He may be Head of Recruitment but he's not the only one involved in the signing of players.

Unfortunately I have a problem taking anything Pleat says these days seriously.

I actually think he's one of the better pundits. Pleat and Graham Taylor are possibly the only two whose opinions I respect.

Well I'm noot sure I agree with him. He's one man in a team sure but if you ask me he's the key player...

If true, I can't believe it :(

We win the PL and our head scout goes to Everton as D of F. The only thing I can understand is being closer to his family.

Baffled - genuinely - I hope Mahrez now stays, couldn't handle Mahrez, Kante and Walsh going in one season. Does no one want to be part of this Champions League season? One of the BIGGEST seasons in our history with the chance to use momentum to keep pushing and pushing to get to essentially elevate our status in the football world. We didn't do a Southampton, we won the bloody league. We did the impossible. And so far, two of our biggest assets have abandoned ship.

Go and get Ross Wilson then?

That's what I thought when I read it.

Hopefully if we've let Walsh go on good terms he'll at least leave us a list of names.... For his replacement or targets!

Hopefully won't affect this summers moves too much as hopefully he's already revealed the contents of his little black book to Ranieri, Rudkin and Top

I doubt very much he's done that. I'd have thought part of his lure for Everton was that he'll also have a few names for them this season.

But his names would be players that fit the the LCFC 'band of brothers, run 95 minutes, die for the badge' ethos.

I am not sure that ethos applies to the current Everton team.

Walsh has undoubtedly been excellent for us but will Koeman want the same type of player as Ranieri? Will he have the same expectations? Maybe it was the chemistry between Pearson and Walsh that made Walsh so good. I don't think this is as simple as saying Walsh is a genius.
What's more, we are now in a fantastic position to find a suitable replacement. How would people feel about an approach from the champions of England?

Steve Walsh works for LCFC currently and is in charge of player recruitment. Anyone who thinks he has a little black book of names that he doesn't show anyone is deluded. Everyone else in the department will be aware of potential targets not just for this pre-season but way beyond. Not to mention the Director of Football who he will accountable too.

Be that as it may, it still seems strange to allow this information to leave the club. Although SW obviously wants to go (assuming this is mostly for more £££), we could (and IMO should) put him on gardening leave until the end of the transfer window. Although we will of course already be aware of any further signings we want to make during this transfer window, why should we then compete with a now ambitious Everton for them? The £2m we're receiving from SW's departure could be lost in a single bidding war with Everton on a single player.
