They're all motivated by money. Why shouldn't they be? Every single one of our players would **** off to Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool or Manchester United if they were offered truck loads of cash. I can't say I blame them either.

You live in the plot of a fantasy novel. They owe us **** all - they're doing a job of work for money. I would wager the fans are just as fickle - for all the complaining and bitching about how Mahrez left or how he was 'shit', the vast majority of those doing the moaning would welcome him back with open arms given half the chance.

I don't blame him. I just don't think buying a player who doesn't care if he's playing or not is a good thing.

If he was to go, it would probably be because he wants to play otherwise he'd sit on his arse and see out his hugely paid contract.

Which is probably what he'll do or get shipped out on loan a few times. He wouldn't have signed for them if he wanted regular football. The rumours of him leaving are more to do with the new manager wanting rid.

And that's his prerogative. None of that stops him from being miles better than what we've got in that position. If it's a choice between a mercenary DD or watching Silva, Iborra or King ruining Ndidi's game week in week out I'd take the mercenary DD every day of the week.

Why not try signing someone who is good enough but also wants to play football? I'd be glad if we shipped Iborra and Silva out but would rather us try someone who might be interested in playing. Now that weve got Evans and Maguire I don't think we'll need that link up pass now.

He made me want to eat my own face the season before he left, he was that bloody negative and clueless.

Drinkwater against Swansea in Claudio’s last PL game, having had the pleasure of being there, was a bizarre performance. He may as well have been playing in a back 3 as he was basically passing it around the back. He was showing none of the drive to push us forward as a time, which would happen as soon as he or N’golo received the ball the previous season.

he seemingly disappeared for much of the post-Christmas collapse that led to the watford play off defeat, and the great escape season too, as well as the Claudio bad run.

When he was bad, we were bad. How much that is the influence he had on us becoming a good team, or on how we made him a better player, is an interesting debate.

Saying that I’m a bit of a softie when it comes to old players, he gave us some fantastic moments, so I’d put on my blue tinted glasses and take him back alongside Wilf in midfield (provided we got rid of some others).

He is much better than what we have. I mean, much, much better. But then I expected you to disagree, it's a hobby of yours. He wasn't anything like a poor as people like you want to believe, he spent a long while playing through an injury and then just happened to be the pantomime villain at that time. I mean, Chelsea saw fit to pay an absolute wedge for him but what the **** do they know compared to you?

I am not in any way suggesting he is a wonderful player and have said as much if you'd bothered to read it. I also said we should be looking at a step above if possible but you ignored that as well. I merely said I would take him back over what we have - a past his prime Andy King and two central midfielders that have disappointed since they arrived at the club. You seem to think Iborra is the answer. If he is, then the question must be 'Is there anyone who has shown us that he is slightly less shit than Silva or King at the moment?

Now calm yourself down and take a Valium.
 
If our recruitment policy is based around 'is he better than Andy King, Iborra or Silva have been over the past year', they'll be an awful long list of players

They're simply not good enough, and neither is Drinkwater

They paid £50m. He'd scored 24 goals in 07/08, 14 goals in 08/09, 18 goals in 09/10 and was up to 9 goals by January 11 when he was sold. Is it really that hard to work out why they bought him for a wedge? If he had have been 'shit' for 2 years do you think they would have paid what they did? If Mahrez had been 'shit' for 2 years do you think Manchester City would have broken their transfer record for him? If DD had been 'shit' for a year and a half do you think Chelsea would have paid what they did for him? Drinkwater didn't become a poor player overnight from being so effective in 15/16. There were many variables which effected the way he played. Some were his fault, others were not.

Some people have no perspective at all and must really re-evaluate their definition of a 'shit' performance or a 'shit' player. Perhaps watching some of our midfielders may help with that. I can't quite believe I'm having to defend the assertion that he is better than what we have. He really is you know. There are many better players than DD that we could potentially buy and perhaps should be looking at but then, I wasn't arguing against that was I.
 
Mahrez makes his debut for Man City today in the Community Shield.

Think they might also be playing him as a number 10, as Sane, B.Silva and Aguero all start too. So either Silva or Mahrez will be central role.
