As if we needed more reasons to love N’Golo:

N'Golo Kante reportedly refused to accept offshore payments from Chelsea designed to help him avoid paying income tax, according to documents acquired through Football Leaks.

Per French outlet Mediapart (h/t Agence France-Presse, via Yahoo), a company called NK Promotions was registered in Jersey six weeks prior to Kante's arrival at Chelsea in 2016 "in an apparent attempt to pay 10 percent of the player's income abroad to avoid tax" on his salary and image rights.

However, though a lawyer representing the Frenchman initially said he would "approve" receiving payments in this manner, an email from his tax advisor to Chelsea executives in May last year said:

"N'Golo is inflexible, he simply wants a normal salary. After reading numerous press articles on image rights and tax investigations against players and clubs, N'Golo is increasingly concerned that the set-up proposed to him could be questioned by the tax authorities. N'Golo decided that he did not want to take any risks."

Christoph Winterbach of Der Spiegel—which has also been releasing allegations based on Football Leaks documents—reacted to the story:

I'm pleased for Ranieri but it's a bit like seeing your ex-girlfriend walking down the street with another bloke.

I will always wish Claudio well wherever he goes but I'm bloody jealous! Not that I think him coming back would work but because of what we achieved together.

But no. I'm going to be adult about the whole thing. I hope he does well. I hope he achieves plenty. But not as much as us. There I said it.

Good luck King Claudio. (But you'll always love Leicester more than anyone else.)

James Richardson’s Golazzo podcast is a really good listen, they do a roundup of the weekend’s news but also tell the tales of some colourful Serie A characters. I notice this weeks episode is called ‘When Ranieri was Roman - Claudio’s Serie A story’

Listened on he way to work this morning, some nice stories including how he gave some chocolate biscuits to James Richardson and why he’s much more polite than most Romans.

Andrej Kramaric just scored against England.

Andrej Kramaric just scored against England.

And what a top goal it was. Commentators first and then post-match analysis in the media describing it as "the deflected goal." It was deflected but brilliant skill before he got the shot away - he had England defenders on their arse Mahrez-style. If it was an England player who scored that you can bet it wouldn't be described as a deflection.
