Guts, desire, passion and character. Plus a good technical set of penalties

A stark contrast to how we limped out of both cup competitions this year

And they are actually battling for something in the league.

Mahrez didn’t even make the Man City bench for today’s game at Huddersfield

Mardy arse Mahrez, probably don't wanna get on the wrong side of Pep or he'll get even less time! What happened to 'I don't care about the playing time' when he was pushing so hard for his move?

Not worse than that he starts in the League Cup semifinal tonight

Yup, they're doing okay in the league but its particularly interesting how well they've done against Prem opposition in the cups. As I mentioned in another thread, Lampard is one manager I would take. I look at Derby's team and there's nothing extra special in there and they haven't splashed mega bucks like Wolves did - heck they've got three Leicester rejects. But Lampard has got them playing some good stuff and that's testament to his managerial ability that he's getting the best out of what he's got. Certainly worth keeping an eye on..

Derby have been in and around the play offs for years though and where are they now, still in and around the play offs so no real improvement.

Lampard has had a good start but it's really no better than any other recent Derby manager and he's not even been in the job 6 months yet.

Bit soon to want him here and when the vast majority are demanding top half finishes, it would be a massive gamble to take and put an inexperienced manager in.

True that. It's early days. It could be just a case of stepping up their game when they get the chance to test themselves against the big boys. IMO he's got them playing some pretty nice football with pretty unspectacular players at the minute.

Of course, I hope he fails miserably there at Derby but I've just got a feeling they've given a chance to a half decent manager in the making there.

Derby are coming up to the time of year they start to faulter.
Let's see how he does if they lose a couple of games next month, and the pressure starts to mount.
