I'm surprised. Nothing about his past actions indicated he was a bit of a ****.
Oh **** off!

Or perhaps you were being ironic in which case you can **** right back again.

Oops...

There probably ends the sad deterioration of a once great manager.

Unfortunately he was unable to truly 'destroy and exit' at his final club. Just a bit meh.

We had his greatest days and boy were they tremendous. He should retire to the TV studios now where he would be a good listen.

I can wish him well again now

To be fair to O'Neill he easily could have been sacked at Leicester too in the early going. It certainly took some patience from the club (more than the fans showed at the time). He went to a club that is burning through managers at a ridiculous rate.

His last two club appointments have been Sunderland and Forest. Nobody in their right mind would describe those clubs as functional or well run. Would be very hard to succeed at either place.

It's certainly possible he's a completely spent force, or a relic of a previous time...but I think using Forest and Sunderland as the sticks by which to beat him might not be entirely fair.

Age has nothing to do with ability as a manager, it's how you adapt to the modernisation in football. With the insatiable desire for instant success in the Championship, you are now seeing more and more dysfunctional clubs & owners. Almost impossible to succeed - just look at Bielsa at Leeds. Some of the fan want him out.

It was obvious to anyone that this would be the outcome. I mean, nearly everyone on here knew what the likely outcome would be. He's finished as a football manager and was some time ago.

I get all that. But the MON that we knew would never have even considered taking the Forest or Sunderland jobs. It is a sign of his deterioration that he even in a position to be embarrassed there.

Apparently 18 mins between the announcement of his sacking and the new manager being confirmed

How much shit would we get as a club if we sacked a manager after 5 months. The media would be all over us. It would be snakes snakes snakes.
