New ex-players (and managers) thread

I have vague memories of the sporting director who signed Jimmy Nielsen leaving the club "under a cloud" soon after Nielsen was signed. Of course Nielsen who had the number one jersey never played a competitive match which meant he did not impress Martin Allen, Frank Burrows, Gary Megson or Ian Holloway.
Does anyone have any more information on the sporting director and why he left?

It was Don Mackay. Couldn't tell you why he left.

I can remember the rumours of agents and inducements and little brown envelopes. I remember the signings made on nothing more than a YouTube video. I remember the preseason matches where it looked like someone had adapted a script from Carry On Drowning.

I laughed when watching Nielsen playing. I laughed because it was the worst keeping performance I'd ever seen from a City player and I'd arrived at the ground fully loaded from the Swan. God did I laugh. But I was crying inside.

Paraphrasing drumin, we were a total **** up of a club under Mendacious.

I saw him play at Quorn and he looked shocking against them.

Ah yes, I was at that one. Was that the day a team played at Oadby Town earlier the same day too? I think it was my first sighting of Bruno N'Gotty too.

I was at Oadby for that one too. Seemed strange having your heroes running past you just two feet away the other side of a wonky rail!

I saw Casino Jimmy play in an MLS pre-season friendly between New York Red Bulls and Sporting Kansas City in Tucson a few years ago. He was absolute bobbins, parried a simple shot and cost his team the game. Mind you, Kansas were well beaten without Jimmy's ****-ups. Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez were playing for the Red Bulls, which was a rather entertaining spectacle to witness in a local park in the hotbed of football that is Tucson, Arizona.

I can confirm that the Carl Cort shirt is still with us, and remains unwashed.

What a hero
