I think most of those forums with "thankyou" on are help sites like Martin Lewis's forum about saving money and help with issues such as benefits/housing/finance/legal matters(like wills).
This is more appropriate I think than a forum such as ours, where I think that if we had a "thanks a lot" sarcastic button to click we may find this is used more!

Ever considered this Jeff?

There was something similar a couple of years ago when users had "reputation" levels.
Posts could be given positive or negative reputation points, and an anonymous comment could be made.
I turned that feature off because people were using it to send anonymous abuse, and people were giving their mates high reputation scores and negative scores to people they don't like, instead of basing it on the quality of the post.

I have thanked you for the suggestion. I'm not sure if what I've installed will add anything to the forum, but there's no harm in trying it.
