I didn't see or hear that on the TV, but when you've just travelled a nearly 300 mile round trip on a Sunday evening to see that, I can certainly understand their frustration.

Let's face it; the players know, the staff know, the opposition all know - Puel isn't going to be here for the start of next season. If that happens now, or in May, it won't make a huge amount of difference except to those of us that have to watch the boring shite football between now and then.
I’m glad it wasn’t heard on the TV, because we’d have been rightly vilified for it.

No excuse for it.

Can't blame Puel for Albrighton handball at all.

He was one of our best players yesterday, but we actually got better when he moved to RWB. Him not being a natural defender doesn't excuse him putting his arm up.

I agree that calling for the manager's head was not classy, but I can also sympathize with people who had paid for the 'pleasure' of watching that display, let alone the travelling.

I could understand Puel starting with Iheanacho, and giving him a partner in Oki (He has no other alternatives apart from Vardy) but, I had presumed that the lack of Vardy on the bench, indicated an injury. To leave the best striker out of the squad is inexplicable. I was also bemused at the thought that poor Matty James could come back for most of a high tempo Cup match.

Claudio Ranieri was criticized for playing a changed Fulham team; I could accept that, given their league position. Similarly, I could understand Puel's caution in the Cup match against Manchester City but, the nine points that we have picked up since, surely means that our Premier League place is safe so, why not give the FA Cup our best shot?

I see no value in a knee jerk reaction and dismissing Mr P now, but I cannot see him surviving the summer. I am genuinely sorry to say that because changing manager is a step back, in the hope that it will lead to a leap forward.

Not quite sure why this has anything at all to do with Plymouth (or maybe it's a generic article they've just picked up on) - but this is right bang on the money

Whilst it was written about us, it could almost be a generic piece for many teams in the top 2 divisions .
It is spot on.
A big chance wasted.
I can vaguely remember the 1969 final, I was at the 82 semi final.
I would have liked this year to be a year we "give it a go".
The team put out should have been enough to overcome Newport. We did have enough chances, good chances to score.
Claude certainly didn't do himself any favours yesterday, neither did some of those players that think they should be in the first team.

Against Cardiff, the atmosphere in SK4 and 3 was becoming toxic, it's going to horrible on Saturday if we don't get off to a good start against Saints.

Too right, and that's perfectly reasonable given the players that were 'rested' to pave the way for that complete shitfest yesterday.

The thousand poor bastards who actually went to the match are entitled to whatever level of moaning/booing/complaining they wish to engage in

You've been around for a while then. So, you cannot describe the atmosphere at Cardiff as 'toxic' with any seriousness.

There is absolutely nothing toxic about City fans nowadays. We're playful little puppies having our bellies tickled. Give us a free beer and we'll put up with anything.

There were days when the atmosphere used to get toxic that you'll remember. Days when fans exercised their control over their football club.

BN, yep, I've been around for a while :).
Today's "toxic" atmosphere, just seems different.

The face of football has certainly changed since the Premier league and Sky came onto the scene.
Sky and the TV money, have created a monster that won't go back in its box.

I don't like what it has done to a great football competition in the FA cup.
I remember City [that's Leicester City ;) ] getting fined for fielding a so called under strength team in the League cup barely 20 years ago.

[as for bygone toxic atmosphere, one of the worst days was when Brian Little returned as the new manager of Aston Villa]

...and feel entitled to a complete refund of travel and ticket costs. I suspect if they'd seen the team sheet before they left Leicester, many might not have bothered starting the car or boarding the bus.

Agreed it's not just us that have the problem with the FA Cup but teams like us could do with looking at West Brom etc and where having no ambition other than safety led them. It doesn't make sense to me that we're considering increasing stadium capacity but avoiding any chance of silverware or entertainment. Are we likely to keep fans interested with shit football and seasons over and done by January/February.

I disagree. The majority of fans wanted heaps of changes. They either overestimated the quality of our fringe players, or underestimated Newport.

These are some of my favourites:

That line up is perfectly adequate. More than strong enough to take these apart.

I think we can be excused for making a lot of changes here, it's a good chance to give the likes of Soyuncu, Ward, Barnes, Okazaki, Silva, Iheanacho, even Ghezzal some playing time and they should surely be good enough to beat Newport?

They're a mid-table division 4 team - we should safely be able to blood a couple of youngsters and give game time to those who need it, leaving the entire first eleven fresh as daisies.

Pretty much any 11 of our pros together should be able to beat these.

Erm, this is Newport County we're playing isn't it? Not Barcelona?

Your example might show how we look at things a little differently. I loved the atmosphere at the game when Little came back. It was terrific and I was proud of us not just accepting a manager walking out two months into a season after getting us promoted. We had all bought into Little big time and had backed him completely. Him leaving was painful and led to what became an immediate and inevitable relegation after so long out of the top flight. We were absolutely right to batter him that day. Now, I'd shake his hand and thank him for what he did for us, but back then, he did the wrong thing and we let him know it.

I do agree with your points on Sky and the FA Cup though. I genuinely couldn't tell you who won the FA Cup last season and I can't say that losing yesterday has bothered me like it would have done years ago. I've just got to endure some ridicule from supporters of other clubs and then can get on with things. 20 years ago, I'd have been devastated for weeks.

I am starting to lose the magic of the Premier League thing too. On the one hand, I love us being part of it all but at the same time, the way it's blown up is absurd. I'm losing connection with the players again too now. Too much money, too ridiculous, too detached from reality. The fecking handshakes and the social media profiles managed by their people to appeal to their fans are just winding me up more and more. The fact is that every penny I spend on City via a season ticket, and Sky subscription, largely goes towards a new outfit for Benaloune or some new trainers for Maddison.

The way I look at things is that the O'Neill years effectively gave us the stadium. We had to go bust for it, but we'd have never had it without a sustained period in the Premier League. Now, I'm just hoping that we stick around long enough for the expansion and training ground to be completed. Then when the inevitable happens, at least we'll have them to show for it all.

He hasn’t signed a contract extension. He’s out of contract in the summer.

He was woeful yesterday, however he has been our best centre back so far this season, playing the majority of games with a 2 man midfield.
???? are you seriously saying Morgan has been our best CD? wow I mean I am lost for words with that one sorry.

I do like Albrighton ... however yesterday he was one of the biggest reasons we did not win yesterday, missing one of the best chances of the game and inexplicably giving away a penalty.
would that be the one that bounced off a defenders head? he was at fault for the penalty it was a daft decision.

There is absolutely nothing to suggest the outcome would have been any different had the starting eleven been changed. We would still have set up defensively - it is the Puel way. They would would have wanted it more. Puel would still have made ludicrous substitutions and ridiculous tactical changes.

There's no way of knowing whether or not we'd have won with a different starting eleven but I'm pretty sure had we played Vardy and he'd have got injured there would be far more of a furious reaction to the manager than at present and rightly so.

Yes of course. Would you not?
not by a country mile no, red cards, crass decisions and there are better defenders at the club. Evans and Soyunncu are far better in my opinion most importantly both can clear their lines by passing the ball to a team mate not the opposition.
Morgan is a club legend and always will be that cannot be disputed however, I think he is well and truly past it and we look far stronger with the other two paired up with Maguire.

the problem with that is where do the players stand? I am sure the likes of Maguire and Chillwell will be targets in the Summer if we can get the right man in now then we should do it, if we can't then we wait until the Summer.
