Young manager who half our players would probably ignore. Going from Sven to such an unproved young manager would be a farcical choice.

Not really. Management is increasingly a young man's game. Villas-Boas has never kicked a ball professionally in this life and he's the same age as some of his players at Chelsea. Their second half performance at QPR was a tactician's dream.

The problem during Sven's time was that the players played with an arrogance. They never appeared challenged or questioned. The relationship between him and the players seemed too healthy.

Like Harry Redknapp?

Whose spent four times as much and let's not forget the pull London has when it comes to attracting players. Looking an one-off too.

Billy Davies got Forest to the play offs twice on a shoestring he fell out the board because they wouldnt give him any cash. If he got it would be less disappointed than if any of the others on that list got it. Im not sure about MON. He give us good times back then any failure now would sully that memory. He was much like Sven given a fair old bit of cash at Villa and never really pulled up any trees.

He got Villa very close to the Champions league- something they never looked like doing before he got there (well since they won it!) or anytime soon now.

Ridiculous. When did he spend 4 times as much? MON spent over £100mil in 4 years at Villa on transfer fees alone, I certainly don't remember Spurs spending any more than that, let alone £400mil.

Slow down old cock, no need to get all factual FFS.

Harry Redknapp is the most overrated manager currently going.

I agree with you which is why I sarcastically put his name when Hazzman said it would take something special to break into the top 4.

MON had a net spend on transfers was £88.9mil at Villa, Redknapp's is £18.45mil.

MON's average net spend per season at Villa was £17.78mil, Redknapp's is £4.16mil.

MON massively outspent Rednapp and everyone bar Chelsea and ManCity during his time at Villa. Not saying he "should have" made the CL, but it certainly wouldn't have taken anything special and his job there was certainly nothing above average/mediocre.

I'm not saying he's not a good manager, I just find the Leicester fans who think he's good enough for the ManUtd job a bit headscratching.

The owners persuaded an ex England manager to drop into Championship management, they could surely impress MON enough with the clubs financial, facilities and ambition improvements over the past 11 years

We even beat the shitters

If this article is to go by it's more the assurances of stability in the job he wants: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-City-after-Sven-Goran-Erikssons-sacking.html

Will they be able to show him that? I certainly wouldn't have confidence in a having a stable future if I was applying for the Leicester job.

I think the likes of Newcastle and Liverpool made mistakes not hiring him.

As for Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal....it's never on the cards.

Portsmouth fans be afraid be very afraid

McGhee, who lives in Brighton, also spoke of the temptation to join Portsmouth after Steve Cotterill took the reigns at Nottingham Forest.

And the 54-year-old revealed the vacancy on the south coast is one of particular appeal.

McGhee added: "It would be a terrific job for most people and certainly geographically, I was actually at their game on Saturday and it took me less than an hour to get back so from that point of view it would be perfect.

"But no it's obviously not at the top of my list of why I would want a job but it's a job that absolutely I would be interested in."

Top has just been interviwed on SSN. Has had several applications, some interesting. No contact with MON, yet. Looking for someone with experience of Championship and with fighting spirit who can motivate the team, staff and fans. Doesn't have to be high profile too market in Thailand anyone who can get us to Premier League. Interview slightly faltering to begin with but improved as it wnet along. I think we can deduce from the above why Sven got sack. Said he was sorry about Sven, nice man but we have to move on

Interesting. I hope he's right about appointing someone with experience of the Championship over a big name.

Whoever it is, they will inevitably depart at some point in the future. At that time, can members of this forum wishing to enquire as to who Homer would prefer to Paul Ince please limit the number of choices to quite a lot less than 923.

I thank you.
