If we are relying on a caretaker until the end of the season then we are in the shit

Potter would be a very good choice IMO. Would also like Pochettino but doubtful he'd come with us in the position we are. If we hadn't left it far too late he probably would have.

There is a zero percent chance that Potter would take another job so soon. He'll not do anything until the summer. It's also not the appointment for the current situation.

That said, word on the street says that we did try to speak to Potter before he left Brighton for Chelsea. So he may well be a summer target if we stay up.

Much will depend on how we perform on Tuesday. With Sadler and Stowell back for yet another caretaker act, there will either be a much improved performance or another slump. That will determine our urgency.

If we step back a little we have the two home games this week where nobody is really going to come in and make a notable difference. We may just as well stick with the caretakers. Then we go to Man City and nobody wants that game as it's a hiding to nothing with our current side.
You're probably right.

But if we don't at least ask the question I reckon it's game over. He'll have better offers by the summer regardless of if we stay up or not. It can't hurt to make the phone call. & if by some chance he takes it on we then have the perfect man to rebuild us from the ground up either in the Prem or the championship.

It's a free hit. Take it.

The problem, as I said a few weeks ago, is that the "firefighter" caretaker/temp appointment til the end of the season doesn't really exist any more.

I don't think Rafa would agree a job til the end of the season only for example for Potter to come in then.

So I don't know who the options are if we don't go for Potter now. But you're right will he want it now - his stock has been hurt by Chelsea, will he want the risk of us going down on his CV if he doesn't have time to turn it around?

Our squad have been coached to death by Rodgers. The last thing that they need is another man to walk in immediately with another fecking 'philosophy'.

We need to do what always works in this situation. Back to basics, up and at 'em football. Get aggressive on and off the pitch. **** the football. It's results that matter.

If we don't win on Tuesday, I'd have Allardyce in for Saturday. If we do win on Tuesday, I'd roll them on for another game.

Bet the club heard that Potter was toast on the grapevine (or the street) and pulled the trigger first to bury the news.

Potter perfect for if we stay up or go down. A style of football that we can rebuild behind

I was at the point with Rodgers where a good result only annoyed me and I still maintain that in the short term (this means until the end of the season now) literally anyone would be an improvement.

A decent manager like Potter would be a massive bonus but for now even a caretaker will mean that we pick up a couple of results that we wouldn’t have otherwise.

Well, if someone doesn't like the position we are in and is scared they can't get us out of it, then they are not the best option really, are they?
