It has to be Potter doesn't it?

I can't see any alternative plan.

The statement makes is clear that Ben Dawson is taking training, not in charge for the next game. I think the club knows who they want and expect it to happen fast.

Moyes just doesn't add up. The club have made two appointments that were all about the 'modern' approach in Rodgers and Maresca. They've only done differently when they were backed into a corner (Smith).

Cooper was supposed to bring a similar style and there were plenty of stories when he joined about how he was expected to get us playing differently to how Forest had done under him. Lots was made of the way he had the young England players playing and how much he liked progressive football. Cooper's main failure, in my opinion, was trying to do this and evolve the EM style and not going full blown anti-football counter attack.

It absolutely cannot be someone like Van Nistelrooy or Southgate and anyone else that comes from nowhere. We've made this change because of the risks involved with relegation. We're hardly now going to take a wild punt are we?

It's Potter. Lump on.

I remain unconvinced about Potter. Moyes makes sense if we are only concerned with staying up and nothing else, which is a tempting mind set to choose. To be honest, I don't care that much at this point. I'm just glad we were quick with making the right call this time.

I have a feeling in my waters it will be Carsley you know.

This needs to be an appointment for the short term. Go with whoever gets us to the end of season and staying up. We can reassess in the summer.

Even if we have to pay Moyes off, it's a lot cheaper than going down.

Going with Moyes is a bit like when Everton went with Dyche, it pretty much guaranteed safety.

I share that feeling in your plums.

Not for me, that.

Hey - have we all forgotten the guy at Macclesfield? Only joking!

I can see it being Moyes purely because we came so close to appointing Potter in the summer, but it broke down because either he backed out or we baulked at paying his preferred staff off of their Chelsea contracts depending on which of the rumours you'd be inclined to believe.

Only thing that would put me off Moyes a bit would be that they did take a fair few heavy spankings under his watch at times but otherwise he would be a sound choice.

One things for sure, there are a few names floating around who I think would at least constitute an upgrade on Cooper........

Certain aspects of this thread make me even more nervous than having Cooper in charge.
