Is this news to you or are you just worried it's now come out? We won't think any less of you, although it's hard to think less of you anyway. ;)

Its major news to me, have you been spiking my drink or something?

Skysports.com understands a number of clubs are chasing Rushden & Diamonds hot-shot Lee Tomlin.

Tomlin is regarded as one of the best young prospects outside the Football League after catching the eye at Rushden.

The 21-year-old came through the ranks at Leicester before joining Rushden in 2005 and his performances have attracted the likes of Liverpool in the past and he enjoyed a trial with the Merseysiders in 2006.

Scouts have been flocking to Nene Park to cast an eye over Tomlin, who has scored 11 goals this season.

Scottish giants Celtic, Championship outfit Leicester want to bring back the goalscoring starlet and League One duo Charlton and Southampton are believed to be tracking Tomlin and could make a move for his services before the close of the transfer window.

Rushden are resigned to losing their prized asset and they are unlikely to stand in his way if the right offer comes along.

Skysports.com understands a number of clubs are chasing Talking Balls hot-shot Harbro.

Harbro is regarded as one of the best young prospects outside the Football League, although his reputation was tainted with allegations of secret sex acts with Darth Vodka.

Harbro's performances have attracted the likes of Darth and 4-4-2 in the past and he enjoyed a passionate trial with the pair in 2006.

Scouts have been flocking to cast an eye over Harbro, who is rumoured to have agreed a contract worth 50 marbles a week with Leicester, for which he'll do "anything at all".

Interesting read. I wonder if he plays right-back.

Was there ever a three year plan, or was that just Mercury spin?

The 3-year plan relates to the payments due to former shareholders and was spoken about by MM in the days and weeks after he took over the club.

Still just possible now of course, even if a diversion via the third division is not what he had in mind. But IMHO any body who thinks successive promotions is a good foundation for the future need look no further than Peterborough. Let's just be happy if we get what we would have been happy with at the start of the season.

The thing that I do not understand is that Milan was eager to say that he would back Pearson in the January transfer market.
Surely, if there was no possibility of signings, he would have been wiser to play down the chances of new players: many clubs are in a tricky financial situation and, he could have just made it clear that none of our "stars" would be sold. In that way, expectations would have been diminished, rather than raised. :102:

There always seem to be a flood of last minute signings at the end of the window. I don't see why people are panicking.

Not that I want this great thread to start into another debate of should we/shouldn't we, but surely a well managed (!?) promotion would be better for the club that lingering in this league. Burnley will surely be in a better position next year than they were, and most fans would enjoy playing in the Prem more, even if it means the occasional drubbing.

In regards to Peterborough, surely a year in the Prem is a lot more exciting than a year in the Champ, and a lot more financially benificial.

what like when Derby got spanked for a year?

..... and half the next season back in the Championship. They would have gone down admittedly but would probably be back up there had they kept Davies and not appointed that complete git Jewell. Glad they did though :icon_bigg

Maybe there genuinely are some funds available, but Pearson hasn't been able to find anyone to improve the squad at the right price.

I have no idea, but it must be a possibility.
