I don't know where people are getting this idea that Milan has 5mil to spend. I was under the impression a couple more seasons in the Championship and he'd be bankrupt after the millions he lost with Allen and the relegation.

The club has lost millions. MM has lent the club money. Until we go bust, he hasn't 'lost' this, although he might find it difficult to get it out at the moment.

Also, Mandy has a lot of cash. Fact.

After his initial investment, rumoured to be 25 mill, it seems to me that MM is running Leicester with Leicester's money. If this is the case, don't expect to see any Victor Moses, Martin Taylor etc here any day soon.

If he was serious he would invest some of his 75 mill to see us compete with the likes of Forest, Newcastle etc. We wont go bust under milan, but i cant see us push on either.

Any 'investment' by Mandaric will just be by way of another 'loan' to the club - saddling us with even more debt

He's never going to actually give any money away

Fact is we haven't got a pot to piss in, so it's the likes of wee Nobby for us and we should be bloody grateful for him........

The 3-year plan relates to the payments due to former shareholders and was spoken about by MM in the days and weeks after he took over the club.

Still just possible now of course, even if a diversion via the third division is not what he had in mind. But IMHO any body who thinks successive promotions is a good foundation for the future need look no further than Peterborough. Let's just be happy if we get what we would have been happy with at the start of the season.

I think that the difficulty with what you are saying is that the financial problems associated with being in the Championship will mount year on year.

The whole financial scenario for football clubs is fraught and any club that can get into the Premiership is going to massively benefit from the immediate financial boost as long as they don't recklessly throw money chasing over-priced, over paid new players.

It's a very difficult situation which just might start to become corrected through more realistic wages if one or two 'big' clubs go out of business.

With regard, to the immediate situation at Leicester, I guess that Mandaric is none too happy about the way things are not shaping up. This might be unreasonable - but it's the way he tends to be.

But why did Mandy come out and say he would flash the cash if NP wanted it and now he has gone AWOL? Surely when we were sitting in 4th place that would have been the time to have taken a punt?

What about:

a) he hasn't got big money to spend

or

b) he doesn't believe that there is a realistic prospect of promotion

or

c) he's not as impressed as he was with NP's judgement on acquisitions.

Well, you say that but:
Chairman Milan Mandaric has stated on several occasions that there is no money available within the club to give to Pearson, and that he would be willing to use his own personal wealth to assist his manager. He has also said he wants promotion this season. Now I can't criticise Mandaric for his own personal commitment to the club. Any owner who is putting his hand in his own pocket every year to the tune of £5-£6 million to plug his club's shortfalls is a man that is fully committed to the cause.

People like MM know that to make a lot of wonga, sometimes you need to risk it. By spending £5m now, LCFC COULD go up which would bring in a significant return on investment. The thing is, is how much risk is there really involved here? What if we went up next season? There is still a healthy return.

I reckon MM will back NP, it's just whether or not Pearson thinks we need it to get the club where he believes we should be. I think Pearson wants stability this season and to push on next and anything else is a bonus.

He bloody well has!!!! He is extremely wealthy.

or

b) he doesn't believe that there is a realistic prospect of promotion
Why would he or anyone think that at this stage?

c) he's not as impressed as he was with NP's judgement on acquisitions.
Why? They have been absolutely superb if you ask me!

really alex??? you think the signings of neilson, mcgivern, gallagher and wellens have been 'superb'?????:icon_wink

Are you mad ? He's minted

or

b) he doesn't believe that there is a realistic prospect of promotion

Well he would have if he dipped in his pocket a la forest. Thats the point.

or

c) he's not as impressed as he was with NP's judgement on acquisitions.

Then why come and state he will back him then ?

I think Pearson wants stability this season and to push on next and anything else is a bonus.

I'm not certain that stability is an option.

If it is the case - and I wouldn't claim to know - that MM is subsidising LCFC to the tune of £5m to £6m a season, then that doesn't sound like stability to me.

If that or another process involves the club's debts mounting by those sort of sums, then that doesn't sound like stability either.

I accept that I'm both cynical as well as being a miserable old git, but the picture I'm getting is one of the cupboard being bare - again!

Since Milan has been here, he has brought in many managers. Those managers have brought in many players.

Out of all the managers he's chose, you can count on one finger, those that have impressed. Out of all those players, you can count on one hand those that have impressed.

Not good enough for my liking :102:

Just on the subject of Alex and Lazzer's comments re MM's wealth.

As I'm sure they already know, The Times listed him in its top 2000 as having £75m.

I'm not sure that is likely to provide a vast available resource of liquid cash for the sole owner of a football club. these days.

Let's have a look at NPs signings shall we, and then judge them on whether or not they have been 'superb' or not.

Morrison
Powell
Tunchev
Dyer
Gilbert
Hobbs
Brown
Neilson
McGivern
N'Guessan
Kermit
Wellens
Gallagher
Ajdaravic(?)
Verma

Now - those castigating N'Guessan and Gallypants I feel are being a little quick to judge. On the whole, the signings NP made won us League One and have us in touching distance of play offs in the Championship - for the first time since Micky Adams.

Players he has bought like Morrison, Tunchev, Hobbs, Wellens & Dyer I think could be absolutely tremendous players for City - really of the level we have wanted for quite some time.

As Redditch has mentioned, MM has funds to gamble with. I just don't think steady Pearson wants to gamble.
