In your dreams.
Pyjamas and wellies for sheepshagging, yes.My bad. I understood it was the Welsh way of doing things.
Iiiiiiiit's rant time
That was obvious from the moment he appeared on the scene. He's a businessman, not Santa
Er, did anyone really expect that? When was the last time we were competing for a player that will cost several million? Ten years ago? Be realistic Biff.
Don't think so Lako, but I'm sure you'd agree that only a complete idiot would fail to see he's a very talented individual. He's been out of position and so far largely ineffective, but still, it's very harsh to judge him at this stage IMO. It might not work out for him, or us, long term, but the problem isn't his ability, it's finding a place in the team for him. Maybe he just doesn't have a natural position and will never really make it. But to say he's shit, as many people have, is patently untrue - he's a technically gifted player (like Gareth Williams was! :icon_conf)
All due respect Al, how would you know this? He's a professional football manager. As fans we know about lots of players that would improve our squad, so I'm sure that as a professional football manager NP does as well, indeed more so. The trick is clearly identifying players who would improve the squad, want to come to us and, crucially, cost feck all. Suddenly that list has got a lot shorter...
Most sensible post on this forum in weeks. I'd rather we didn't spend any money this January and still have a club left at the end of the season. People have very short memories - we're still suffering now for what happened a decade ago.
Really? Even from 5000 miles away, that comment looks like bollocks to me, Fitz. Weale vs Logan? Wellens vs any of our other supposed central midfielders? Not better, but in fact worse? Nah, I'm not buying that at all. It seems like negativity purely for the sake of it. Boooooooo! :icon_wink
:icon_roll Honestly, this thread has some of the most hysterical knee-jerky shit that it'd actually be quite funny if it wasn't so depressing to read how deluded some people are. Fickle boneheads, as someone once said...
Anyway, what used to happen in January? I can't remember now. Did the world come to an end if we didn't sign four "quality" players? It must have done... please remind me...
OK, rant over

We risked over 2 mill on DJ, that was less than 10 years ago

I obviously dont want the club to go bust, but whats the point in buying a season ticket if 'survival' is our main aim
...whats the point in buying a season ticket if 'survival' is our main aim?
Because if nobody buys a season ticket, we won't survive?

It seems to me, that Milans ambitions and aspirations have come to a standstill, what with the lack of transfer activity.
due to the ridiculous amount of money in certain clubs now the game is all about surviving. No team can challenge due to having an exceptional manager anymore, the game has gone stale and shite.....we all still turn up, but for how much longer I wonder

Good point, but how do Watford who are skint get Taylor on loan when we offered him a contract Something dont add up.
I've never quite seen this argument: one doesn't go to the theatre to see a poor production with second rate actors so that the company survives; or go to see a cheap British film rather than a US offering full of "stars". Surely, football is an entertainment industry too.
The link between a club and the fans used to be that a group of local players, possibly augmented with a star signing, was fighting for local pride: the titillation of promised signings has replaced this in the football landscape and, if fans do not perceive that these are not likely to be forthcoming, what else does a team have to offer?
Without season ticket holders we would have an attendance of around 11,000 at home based on averages. That's still higher than Blackpool p'boro, Scunny, Bristol , plymouth and Doncaster. They are all surviving

This is the argument my brother one said to me. If he went to see an orchestra and they played badly he would not pay money to see them again.
I have rarely been to a Leicester match I have not enjoyed on some level - obviously wins far more than defeats. However, from the journey to the ground, the first glimpse of the pitch, to the greetings from the people who sit around me, to the post horn gallop I am thoroughly enjoying it.
There is also the sheer enjoyment of bias. Most of life is not good and bad but complex shades of grey. At the match I do not have to see both points of view and reach a fair and balanced judgement. If I cheer Steve Howard I do not need to worry about the feelings of the Newcastle centre backs. Tomorrow my support will be for Leicester City totally and blindly. If Leicester win through sheer luck or a bad refereeing decision great
Although I am biased I do enjoy seeing some of the opposing players. Tomorrow I look forward to seeing Alan Smith who is a player I have long admired - though I hope he ends up on the losing side.
Then there is the fascinating ebb and flow of the game and the excitemt - in most games the outcome is uncertain until late in the match. Often the outcome is not certain until the final whistle. I usually have a good idea how a movie or play will work out - The Titanic will sink, James Bond will survive and Hamlet will die. I have absolutely no idea what will be the outcome of the Leicester-Newcastle game,
