I seem to recall Hoos stating not so very long ago that the club was being geared to being self sufficient and not having to rely on Uncle Milan to subsidise it.

This too me is the indication that any funds for players in this transfer window would have to be generated through additional revenue streams and income such as a decent cup run and monies from the sale of players.

Good, if that is the sustainable way of running things then that Is how it should be done.

I believe we have been down the road of stretching the club to it's very limits in the past, that certainly worked.

amen to that brother

If Mandy did have any money I doubt he'd be letting Nige go and spend it after the shite he brought in during the summer window. He may get 10p to spend if we manage to offload DJ

Cardiff fans have the right to be angry!

They were told to renew their season tickets early for next year so that the club had money to spend on transfers in January... lots of them did that, then the club turn round and say that actually, the money isn't going to be used for that after all.

I'm guessing it was never going to be - they must've known that they didn't have any money and that the renewals were going to cover debts.
I aint biting.

Someone else said similar earlier... personally I think that's utter bollocks.

NP has made a few naff signings this season, but mostly free/cheap ones (with the exception of Gallagher)... and the majority of his signings while at the club have been good (even the players he's signed this season - I think supported by the fact that we're doing much better now than we were last time we were in this league!)

If Mandy has money, but just doesn't trust NP to spend it, then he may as well sack him now (and he probably would have)

Not biting.

:icon_lol:

Sorry Rhydy! But you should be fuming ;)

I think it almost constitues false advertising... Risdale's said the club definetely still expects to honour the "golden ticket" thing if they get promoted this year.... they would definetely be in shit if they didn't honour that anyway!

A few? They've all been no better (and mostly worse) than what we already have. Gallagher being the biggest waste of what limited funds he did have

Iiiiiiiit's rant time :)

After his initial investment, rumoured to be 25 mill, it seems to me that MM is running Leicester with Leicester's money.
That was obvious from the moment he appeared on the scene. He's a businessman, not Santa :102:

If this is the case, don't expect to see any Victor Moses, Martin Taylor etc here any day soon.
Er, did anyone really expect that? When was the last time we were competing for a player that will cost several million? Ten years ago? Be realistic Biff.

Has Gally been used in his correct position?
Don't think so Lako, but I'm sure you'd agree that only a complete idiot would fail to see he's a very talented individual. He's been out of position and so far largely ineffective, but still, it's very harsh to judge him at this stage IMO. It might not work out for him, or us, long term, but the problem isn't his ability, it's finding a place in the team for him. Maybe he just doesn't have a natural position and will never really make it. But to say he's shit, as many people have, is patently untrue - he's a technically gifted player (like Gareth Williams was! :icon_conf)

I must say I think this is true, but I don't think NP has identified a target (Taylor-aside) that he wants in, which is bemusing to me personally.
All due respect Al, how would you know this? He's a professional football manager. As fans we know about lots of players that would improve our squad, so I'm sure that as a professional football manager NP does as well, indeed more so. The trick is clearly identifying players who would improve the squad, want to come to us and, crucially, cost feck all. Suddenly that list has got a lot shorter...

:038: :038: :038: Most sensible post on this forum in weeks. I'd rather we didn't spend any money this January and still have a club left at the end of the season. People have very short memories - we're still suffering now for what happened a decade ago.

A few? They've all been no better (and mostly worse) than what we already have.
Really? Even from 5000 miles away, that comment looks like bollocks to me, Fitz. Weale vs Logan? Wellens vs any of our other supposed central midfielders? Not better, but in fact worse? Nah, I'm not buying that at all. It seems like negativity purely for the sake of it. Boooooooo! :icon_wink

:icon_roll Honestly, this thread has some of the most hysterical knee-jerky shit that it'd actually be quite funny if it wasn't so depressing to read how deluded some people are. Fickle boneheads, as someone once said...

Anyway, what used to happen in January? I can't remember now. Did the world come to an end if we didn't sign four "quality" players? It must have done... please remind me...

OK, rant over :)

Saw this on another site from a Plymouth fan that may explain why Mandaric isn't spending anything. I know it's just one person's second hand information, but I'm just passing on information from someone who is usually reliable:

"I was speaking to someone who works in the City [London] specialising in football finance. he was, shall we say, less than discreet after a few beers.

Pompey have filed a lawsuit against Milan Mandaric for financial irrgularities during his tenure. While this is well known, what is not well known is that the size of those irrgularities (this is money which should be in Portsmouth's bank but isn't) from Mandaric's time amount to ... £105 million No wonder they are in financial doo doo."
