So we have Kaebi, Newton, possibly Gradel, and possibly Hayes down the right

And Porter, and possibly Hayes down the left

I wouldn't count on Gradel, which leaves 2 for each side? Surely thats good cover?
If he is on high wages I would perhaps object, but I don't reckon he would be

Surely Gradel will go out on loan before having some games for us?

RM - Kaebi, Newton

LM - Porter, Hayes

or maybe

LB - Chambers, Mattock

RB - Stearman, Kaebi

LM - Porter, Hayes

RM - Newton, Gradel

????

You mean like Stearman, Porter and Mattock did?

:icon_wink

Maybe dropping them straight in is why Stearman went off the rails, Porter seemed to lose it after a while and with Mattock we will have to wait and see.

Your use of the word 'surely' suggested we never put kids in the team without sending them out on loan first, which is clearly not true.

or maybe my use of 'surely' with more akin with terms of logic that Gradel should be given go in the lower leagues before testing himself at this level.

i wonder if this signing and the possible one of jdj are 2 of the 'big names' that rn was talking about...if so theyre not that big to me imo

RN implied that the names were big enough to make the fans happy and probably Hendrie is one of them? So would have thought Newton is one of the other 4-5 he mentioned.

Why is it logical that he should be sent out on loan when other players haven't?

It's logical to place a young lad out on loan for his footballing education IMO generally. I am sure a fair few would agree that a young lad needs to learn a bit at lower level before being a first teamer.

It depends on the player. Some players can go straight into the team, others may need to get used to first team at a lower level. Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney managed OK without going out on loan. But David Beckham went out on loan. Different players need different things, what's logical is to do the right thing for the specific player, you can't treat them all the same. I don't know if Gradel needs to go out on loan, maybe you know better.

I'm very happy with this signing, thought he was good for us last season. He was the only one out of our loan signings that impressed me.
