The prospect of getting served in under 20 mins is certainly more exciting than the signing of Newton :icon_wink

good solid signing and gives us options which lets face it we have not had for a long time.

Re: George Melly R.I.P.

Shaun Newton...how ****ing exciting

no it's not, its a decent signing to ensure we have a right sided player playing on the right side of midfield all the time instead of having to play someone like hughes there for half the season. So it is a 100% improvement, simple as that.

Another OK signing - a good squad player. I thought he had some decent, if unspectacular games last season.

I think it is and I think he is brilliant.

Shaun Newton has played 9 games for Leicester and will now be playing for his third manager... make of that what you will

Good to see some of the specialist positional players - why have we tried to play centre midfielders out woide for so long! Will be nice to have some decent wing play this season, instead of all the whacking-it-up-through-the-middle-to-the-front-players-as-fast-as-possible tactic employed by previous managers.

Newton rumour

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leicester_city/6277328.stm

Leicester are set to sign former West Ham winger Shaun Newton on Friday, reports BBC Radio Leicester.
The 31 year-old spent two months on loan at the Walkers Stadium and has agreed a one year contract after being released at Upton Park.

Newton started his career at Charlton before joining Wolves in 2001 for £850,000 and staying there until 2005 before signing for West Ham.

He will become Martin Allen's 10th signing of the summer

Please about this.
I was wondering why we didn't make a move for him.
If he can produce his best, when he looked a class above the others, more often then it will be a good signing.
We have to assume he will do this under the better (we hope) management

I'm assuming he's only backup anyway, so I think it's a good signing. Nice to see us starting to add depth, although we clearly still need first choice players in some areas.

LB and LW are the priorities now, but we still need a CM and striker as well.

of all the players we have had on loan over the last couple of seasons, imo Newton was the one to stand out, while that may not be much of an achievement he should make a good addition to the squad

I think Newts was the best loanee we had last season, and will do well with the other players we have signed!
