It's the way betfair works, it's similar to futures betting, offsetting buys against sells, and as such isn't really a good representation.

Yes.

It might be non standard to you, but to a lot of people it's normal, and it's easier to understand than fractional odds.

It's the way betfair works

The way they display the odds is the same as any other online bookmaker, they can show them in decimal or fractional format (or used to, I've not used them for a while).
Most online bookmakers have decimal odds as the default with fractional odds as an option.

Yeah sorry, I've always used decimal odds so find it easier.

I think I am right in saying that for a simple way of calculating the fraction just minus 1 from each number. So 7 becomes 6/1. (Although obviously 6.8/1 doesn't make much sense you get the drift).

It is 13/8 that gets more difficult!
