I have to say that I'm very impressed with Ollie as a person. Having watched/read numerous things about him over the last few weeks, there is no doubt that we have a good man manager in post. I also think his assessment of the club, team etc are spot on. I would like to work for someone with his attitude, honesty and commitment.

However, he has joined a club with an enormous amount of baggage. Collectively as supporters, we have issues and need some psychiatric help. We're depressed. Our glass is half empty. We've been through many painful player/performance experiences and need some memory fixing. About 10 wins in a row at home would be the appropriate treatment.

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how nice, invigorating, friendly, funny, wise, fresh, exciting etc the new manager is. He needs to deliver consistent wins at home to have a prayer of making it here. He's probably got a year to deliver the treatment or he'll be in need of professional help too.

nice post brownie :038:

Want some? You'll get it..

Basically, this is what it is. Foxinozpants and Homeypants are rowing. HF then picked up on my post and almost started on me, and now you're getting involved. The Inner Circle is starting to fray at the edges.

I'll take you all.

Don't clap your hands. I don't buy in to that. I just read the points that are made, and if I agree with it then great, but I don't need the hand-clapping unless it all works in the post.

No hand clapping huh...

There's nothing else for it then - I agreed with you so...

I think that Holloway's analogies are good, not because they make me laugh and like the guy but because they probably make the players laugh and like the guy. He may be viewed by some as a bit of a clown but I think he is pretty clever in that he takes pressure off the players.

Every manager has his own way of doing things but the one common denominator is that he has to get the players to respect him. By being how he is he takes alot of the flak himself and, as has already been seen with the Carl Cort thing, he will stand by his players in public.

I agree, to a point, in the short term his humour approach will hopefully lighten the mood around the club and get more out of players that are in my opinion underperforming.

In the long term however players will only respect him if he is an effective leader who is capable of improving them as footballers and blending them together as a successful team.

Ooh, tetchy tigers!

I will neatly combine all the views expressed: I like Holloway's style, but the proof will be in the results, especially at home. Personally, I find the Guardian interview promising, but we'll see.

the guardian interview pretty much just states that he is not going to be Martin Allen and sign players who are a crock of shite because some dodgy geezer down pub says they are good and half price

Heh heh, thanks for reminding me of that. My home town team, Buckingham Town, had a similar experience with a manager. He claimed he'd managed the Fiji national team but hadn't. Took him ages to get sussed as well.

What on earth are you talking about?

I took the "opinions" of everyone who was at the match plus read every football website I could find to form my "opinion" and you're trying to tell me that it's less valid than yours. If they're just "opinions'' as you put it, then yours is disqualified too. That's what I'm talking about. Unless of course you think yours is the only worthwhile viewpoint, in which case we should all shut up and just let you tell us everything we need to know. :icon_conf

Incidentally I saw Ollie at the Marriott Hotel last Sat whilst there for my Xmas works do and I really would not have liked to have been the person on the other end of his phone conversation...someone was getting a right royal roasting :icon_lol:

I wish it bloody well was, I can only see the dregs left in the bottom.

Mine's fecking smashed on the floor!

I like what Ollie says and hope in time it will translate into positive results for the team - but we need to give the new management team some time to shape up this shower and bring some new faces in.

Great, now he is dragging the club through the mud with a roasting scandal...
