Ornamental Fish

It appears that a few posters on here have an interest in ornamental fish, both pond and aquarium. And a few of us don't, but they have taken offence at us discussing it in possibly incorrect threads, so I feel it deserves it own.

For me, it's both a passion and a career, and I'm more than happy to ask for advise, and give it out whenever required. Fishkeeping is always evolving and we are always learning, so it pays to speak to other hobbyists whenever there is chance.

So hopefully this is the place we can exchange opinion, hints, tips and facts.

I'd like to think some will be clever enough to learn how to use the "ignore thread" function and leave us alone, but I have my doubts.

Is this a suitable tank for carp?

Melts by tank seems to have crept up to 25/26 degrees over night. I'm assuming a bit of fluctuation is normal? but to what extent?

Depends on the size of the filter, size of the fish, size of the tank, length of its stay, type of food and quantity of fish.

25/26 is not a problem.

Huge fluctuations are a problem though. I need to know what it was, not what it went to determine the size of the fluctuation.

It's always better for a larger volume of water when choosing an aquarium as it's far more stable.

Again, depends on the type of fish. But I would personally opt for 25/26.

Also that's not a real tank, anything that green only normally lasts 30 seconds before it dies or the fish eat the feckers!
